I would love for LEGO to release another Birds sets with a different trio as I really enjoyed this set. I await each new quarterly review and announcement with feverish anticipation, curious to see what fan-voted set from LEGO Ideas gets turned into a retail product. Unlike a real flower, this plant doesn’t need watering – making it a top gift for anyone who's a bit forgetful when it comes to watering their little green friend. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the base where the "stick" on the birds go, putting it through the 2 holes vs a more solid connection seemed like they will fall out at times.

Birds represents the best of LEGO Ideas, and despite lacking the star-studded draw of licensed creations, is shaping up to be one of the top sets this year even if it’s only January. I really enjoyed that you could build each bird separately, which allowed me and my wife to spend a relaxing evening putting this set together. The models are really great display pieces and are just a wonderful piece to adore the details on display. Each print is made using Lego letterpress, combining individual building blocks into stamps to recreate the birds’ shapes and patterns, a technique perfected over the past decade by his frequent collaborator, the artist Martijn van der Blom.
