Now one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet. Laurent-Perrier had a successful harvest in 2018, a year which Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet believes will most certainly produce a stunning vintage champagne and hopefully a strong Alexandra Rosé as well. Distinguished by the chubby round hipped bottle, this rosé Champagne has become highly successful, created unusually from 100% Pinot Noir from the best vineyards, and using, for a few days only, the saignée method (contact with the red grape skins) rather than the addition of red wine. Tart raspberries, peppery green herbs, a small but intense sweet-salty-dark-sharp note of balsamic vinegar.

The iconic Cuvée Rosé is made using the highest quality Pinot Noir grapes and is one of the few rosé Champagnes produced by drawing the juice from black grapes instead of blending red and white wines. Sappy and broad in the mouth, offering intense red fruit and bitter citrus flavors underscored by chalky mineral and white pepper notes.We met with Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet to visit Laurent-Perrier's renovated cellars and conduct a vertical tasting of Brut Vintage and Grand Siècle (all from magnum) alongside Jancis Robinson MW.
