About this deal

Things that live around the mids to upper mids are definitely having more life to it, sounding more airy yet retains natural timbre of things. It has dual drivers per side, include 1Advanced Balanced armature and 10mm composite diaphragm (PU+biological diaphragm) dynamic drivers.

The upper midrange sounds decent here actually without that overcompensating “detail boost” that many offerings turn to (not saying that it doesn’t have, but not too much). I don’t consider myself as an audiophile or an enthusiast, therefore the terminology and the overall review will be more mainstream. DapsAs far as my dap situation, I own the iBasso DX240 (flagship level ES9038Pro dac chip) which has a more neutral leaning but completely energetic source tonality. However, once I began using the IFi Go Blu ( CS43131 dac chip) I found it hard to go to anything else for mobile purposes. The bass on the KB01 bass region has a bit more sub-bass growl and rumble but it is very close between the two.

These earphones aren’t designed for stage use and I don’t think casual listening requires perfect isolation. Those familiar with KB budget offerings will recognize the cable immediately although there are some differences from the previous generation. Extension is only average with a fairly steep roll-off above that 9kHz peak that limits air at the top end. Between the 2 sets, the BLON BL-01 is probably a tinge better in sound (if amped), but the fitting issues and the need for a higher powered source would mean I would give my recommendation to the KBEAR KS1, unless you have a good amp on hand. It’s littered with poor translated English text such as not to wear them whilst driving as you won’t be able to hear ‘horning from other car’.

Sound DifferencesBeginning with the timbre, I find the Cadenza to have a thicker and warmer type of note body across the mix. Definitely not mid-centric or vocal-centric but also not so recessed that the midrange comes across bland. With that said, the dynamics of this pair is fairly strong as well, with the ability to present multiple tracks without having 1 overshadowing the other. Female vocals are more forward than male vocals, but the vocals (especially male ones) do take a backseat in this tuning, but consequently, this is a very safe upper mids tuned set, with not an ounce of fatigue with longer listening sessions. Rated at an impedance of 32-ohms and a sensitivity of 108 decibels, the Storm worked great from a decent Dongle Dac. So this is not a technical set for critical listening or analytical listening, but more for sitting back to chill and enjoy the music. She comes across clean and with nice resolution but warmer and more laid back than many iems of late.

Violin doesn’t sound attenuated and has plenty of sharpness when it needs to sound sharp and smoothness when it needs to be smooth. I guarantee no exchange has been done by both parties to influence or sway our opinions on this product.Sound/speaker stage width, average height ceiling and immersive depth from front to back that it gives me a rather meagre head room. It doesn’t come through full time, but is enough that if a track has an emphasis in that range it gets strident quickly. Sliding ti out reveals the beautiful headshells and inside it we are given quite a decent (and this is a genuine complement) cable with 2 sets of eartips - the ash grey being the universal type and the white one being a short nozzle wide-bored eartips. KBear made a valiant effort and really tried to dial in the tuning to match some of these other Harman tuned sets. I also reviewed the KBear Dumpling ( Dumpling Review HERE), KBear Rosefinch ( Rosefinch Review HERE), KBear Quinglong ( Quinglong Review HERE), KBear Storm ( Storm Review HERE), and KBear KW1 ( KW1 Review HERE) among many others.
