About this deal

Hope to Diepropels Alex Cross's greatest challenge to its astonishing finish, proving why Jeffery Deaver says "nobody does it better" than James Patterson. But even he is appalled by the gruesome murders of two joggers in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park-killings that look more like the work of savage beasts than humans. With a climax that is both surprising and unexpected, a far cry from the frustration of Cross My Heart (Alex Cross), Hope to Die is one of James Patterson's best novels in a long time. The victim: a beautiful little girl, savagely beaten and deposited in front of the elementary school Cross's son attends. It was good, but the cliffhanger of an ending, as I said at the time, so reeked of promotion for this one that I almost vowed on principle not to read the follow-up.

I missed the presence of his family in this book, as they were always part of the charm of the Alex Cross novels, but this one did not disappoint.

We know and Alex knows that his killing is an act, but the thoughts in his head are portrayed as if they are. There aren’t very many series that I have been reading for so long that I haven’t lost interest in either because the author lost motivation or my motivation changed over time. Alex Cross is simply superb, as always, and the pain he feels comes right through the pages of the book. No one in Washington is safe-not children, not politicians, not even the President of the United States. I am only five feet eleven inches and I have a thirty five inch reach without stepping up on my toes.

In a race against time, he must defeat Mulch, and find his wife and children – no matter what it takes. From his grandmother, Alex Cross has heard the story of his great uncle Abraham and his struggles for survival in the era of the Ku Klux Klan. When the kidnapper, Thierry Mulch (aka Marcus Sunday), contacts Alex with a proposition, Alex is staggered.

Discover the riveting thriller series featuring Detective Alex Cross written by bestselling author James Patterson. Terrified and desperate, Cross must give this mad man what he wants if he has any chance of saving the most important people in his life.Details that make clear that M is after a prize so dear that -- were the killer to attain it -- Alex's heart would no longer have reason to beat. I decided to read this book out of the hope that one of the Cross family members would die, that being the only imaginable way to create any meaningful change in the character and the series. Alex Cross and Jezzie Flanagan are about to have a forbidden love affair-at the worst possible time for both of them.
