About this deal

There could easily have been something clunky about the way Goldsmith sought out experts from various different religions and explored different beliefs about death and the afterlife, but these events are all woven into a compelling story of a father trying to find a way to live again. Of all the books I have read this one means so much and I would recommend it to all those who love nature. A moving story about Goldsmith fathoming the sheer grief of losing his 15 year old daughter, to an accident on their farm. Most beautiful of all, perhaps, is the almost magical yet very real resurgence of wildlife on the family farm.

Over the years it has changed my life in ways I never imagined – including by introducing me to rewilding. The book is probably a perfect length - I was sad to finish it, but I'm not sure my heart could have borne more. Death transcends our day-to-day myopia and reminds us with crushing immediacy that we are a part of something much bigger: nature, so all-encompassing that we often forget it’s there, or we treat its destruction as a trivial issue. Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. Gavanndra Hodge * The Daily Telegraph * Simply the most powerful and profound words I’ve ever read on grief.Of course, many Indigenous people and spiritual leaders the world over have known that nature is the great healer for millennia, effortlessly weaving concepts of reincarnation, death-following-life and Samsara into the fabric of storytelling.

Rebecca Hardy * The Daily Mail * Goldsmith has written an extraordinary book, God is an Octopus, about his journey through grief and his exploration of the afterlife. In The Coldest Case: A Black Book Audio Drama, homicide detective Billy Harney sends his new partner, Kate, deep undercover in a notorious Chicago drug ring.

For me it completely changed my perceptions of the book and it became more of a power trip rather than a memoir. Covid-19 is likely to be remembered as one of the most significant global crises since the second World War. A visit to Avalon Marshes shows how land can be “rewetted”, and he also takes inspiration from the experience of his friend Isabella Tree, author of Wilding, at the Knepp Castle estate. His 15-year-old daughter, Iris, had overturned while driving a utility vehicle on his Somerset farm and would be pronounced dead before he could race home. I opened this book a self centred atheist who facetiously cast doubt on global warming and of nature or technology I would take the latter everytime.

I think many grouse and pheasant shooters would argue the same, whatever some of us might make of their apparent contradictions. Main Hi Kahaani Hoon”, an Audible Original is a weekly storytelling show of 20 episode from Audible, written-created-performed by Major Akhill Pratap; an ex-Army Officer popularly known as The Soldier and The Storyteller. Roger Alton * The Daily Mail * [Ben] does a quite astonishing job… finding incredible meaning in Iris’s short life and the connection with nature he experienced after her sudden death. Ultimately, though, it was the continuous lure of the natural world that allowed Ben to find hope and healing in nature. Whether it is treating our environment more kindly or rewilding your own garden to allow nature to flourish, there is something we can all take from the book. Now, through the success of a captive breeding program, the population on the island of Española has been brought up past 3,000, from a low of just 14 in the 1960s.
