About this deal

A daughter that doesn’t know her father because honestly, he’s been a fuck up for a while, he’s lost himself in a world of drugs and alcohol and the heroine made the decision of raising her daughter alone. Going into a league that very few novels go into, I felt the love because I not only experienced it through the characters - but I conjured up some of my own for the little things. Finally a love story that is not all about unrealistic drama, people not communicating and creating unnecessary misunderstandings. Then, as their relationship begins to mend in present-day, it is contrasted with the "past" demise of their relationship that led them to where they were at the very beginning of the book.

And after a recent incident that left him injured, he’s back home in Bennett Landing sober, and wanting a chance to reconnect with Kennedy and the daughter he’s never known. I mourn the years they lost, the time that was wasted, the love that maybe just wasn’t quite enough to overcome his demons sooner. But when the harsh realities of life began to unravel their innocence and slowly mould that love into something they could no longer recognise or depend on, what was once a fairytale became nothing more than an ugly nightmare.Kennedy left Jonathan because he wasn't ready to be a good father to their daughter but later on Maddie became the only reason they both got back together. And it’s impossible not to feel their love, their chemistry and not to root for them to end up together. Every detail however minute, has relevance in a love story that ticked every box that I look for in Darhower’s quintessential storytelling.

Seven words to describe Jonathan Elliot Cunningham aka Johnny Cunning: Charismatic, remorseful, determined, flawed, lonely, reflective and trusting. At first I was taken aback by the style of writing in the flashback portions but I got used to it thoughout the story. Her relationship with her daughter Maddie was amazing, you can tell she loved her so much considering the whole situation with Johnathon; she put her daughters happiness above her own. I know lots of readers are loving it, and lots of readers are connecting enough to get emotional from it -- so it definitely could be a "it's just me, and not you" thing going on. She skillfully navigates the reader through a clever and emotional plot, using dual points of view and throwing in quite a few surprises along the way.I never felt his love for her at all and that’s what made him being so easily forgiven in the present so difficult to read. He’s a troubled young actor, Hollywood’s newest heartthrob, struggling with fame as the star of the latest superhero franchise. While Jonathan is seeing more of the world, Kennedy is holding fort in their home and slowly losing herself in the process.
