About this deal

A higher magnification gives you a further reach and more image detail, but on the flip side, it usually means that your field of view is reduced. Continue reading for an explanation of the individual values and you can also see a test report that was done on one of our RVO Horizon 60 OTAs. These powerful binoculars are ideal for long-distance viewing of land-based subjects or astronomical observing at night. When we test your telescope, we will ensure that it is of the highest quality otherwise, we will reject the scope under our strict quality control and test another model for your peace of mind. This is usually more of a pain than anything and will gradually go away, but is something to keep in mind.

Weight of the binoculars can be challenging for extended handheld use: Some users have found the weight of the binoculars to be slightly burdensome for prolonged handheld use. What this means is that some, but not all (usually the first and the last) of the optical surfaces have been coated with many layers of anti-reflection coatings that reduce or eliminate unwanted light reflections, which increases the transmittance or the amount of light that gets through the system and to your eyes than if they were left untreated. UPGRADED BINOCULARS – Our premium binoculars feature a high magnification 20x zoom eyepiece and a 168 yard field of view at 1000 yards, allowing you to see and focus on the huge detail of your target from 1000 yards away. Celestron’s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. The sturdy build ensures that the binoculars withstand outdoor use and the rigors of astronomical exploration. You can adjust the distance between the centers of the ocular lenses to match that of the distance between your eyes by opening and closing the central hinge.

This larger objective lens diameter allows for brighter and clearer images, even in low-light conditions. So it was no surprise that the image I could see through my top end and my mid level 8x42mm controls was brighter than that through these. The overall image also looks nice and flat and stays in focus from the center of the view right until the edges where this minimal softening occurs. While the Celestron SkyMaster 25x70s are at least passable, their quality issues and cumbersome nature in both transport and use mean you really should consider alternative options with different aperture and magnification specifications, such as 15x70s, 12x70s, or smaller 50-60mm binoculars instead.Again with such a comparatively far minimum focusing distance and a much narrower field of view, it was not really possible for me to compare and therefore judge the depth of view between these and my 8x42's. It’s still essential to replace the included plastic tripod adapter, however, and using these binoculars with a tripod or monopod will significantly enhance your experience given their weight and the 15x magnification.

Instead of the more commonly used twist-up eyecups, the Celestron 25x70 SkyMaster has simple rubber eye-cups that you can roll up or down to adjust the distance of your eyes from the ocular lens to match the 13mm of eye-relief on these.Durable aluminum construction for long-lasting performance: The sturdy aluminum build of the SkyMaster 25×70 binoculars is celebrated by users for its durability and longevity. This strap allows users to keep their binoculars within easy reach, ready to capture celestial marvels at a moment’s notice. Under darker sky conditions, M31’s dust lane and companion galaxies, as well as subtle indications of M33’s spiral arms, may become visible, along with dust lanes in a few other galaxies too, albeit with significant effort. A tripod adapter is mandatory at 25x magnification, but the SkyMasters’ supplied plastic one is extremely poorly made, inducing vibrations and also prone to simply cracking from heavy use anyway. This movement is soon canceled out when you place your eyes against the eyecups, but for the most stable view possible, I feel a metal adapter or at least one that was designed to counter this twisting movement would have been better.
