This 3 day course has been completely revised to align with the requirements of BS 7671:2018‘ Requirements for Electrical Installations - IET Wiring Regulations Eighteenth Edition’ including the changes brought about by the release of Amendment 2:2022. Many people assume that the new course will contain lots of extra content, however in reality it will still remain very similar to the old 17th Edition courses with some changes. Now, any outbuilding on a TN-S or TT earthing system can be bonded in accordance with the incoming cable protective conductor related to that building. This course is entirely theory-based and is completed by way of an online multiple-choice open book exam.
Students who are under 19 at the start of their course do not normally pay course fees, except for a few courses. This 3-day electrical training course will familiarise you with the layout, content and application of BS 7671: 18 (2382-22) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. It will teach you how to best reference your book in relation to situations you will face in your working life. Many find accreditation beneficial as it means they can self-certify compliance, but electricians can operate without being part of a competent person scheme. If the course has a test at the end then learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark to successfully complete the course. The current version is BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 (the 18th Edition) issued in 2022, and came into effect from 28 March 2022 (the previous version BS 7671:2018+A1:2020 being withdrawn on 27 September 2022).
Learners should bring a calculator, a copy of BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and the On Site Guide. The standard therefore covers the Extra Low Voltage (ELV) range (0-50V AC, 0-120V DC), and the Low Voltage (LV) range (50-1000V AC, 120-1500V DC).
