About this deal

Blade Runner follows Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard, an ex-cop in Los Angeles, 2019, who’s brought back into the fold to find and 'retire' (i. As you get closer and closer to the practical models, you can see all of the little nooks and crannies with an appreciable amount of detail and depth. This brings the film’s beautifully stark, detailed, almost always artificially sourced lighting to life in a way we’ve never seen before.

For one thing, I know Blade Runner pretty much backwards at this point, and I can go for a few years without watching it. the various cuts of 'Blade Runner,' it's a concise history of one the most convoluted film reconstructions ever attempted. Of course, this version of the film was taken from weak elements, so the often fuzzy picture, weak blacks and pale colors are to be expected. Harrison Ford stars as Rick Deckard, a special brand of police officer, a Blade Runner to be more specific, assigned to the duty of killing any Replicants who make it back to Earth. For the rest of the bonus features found on Disc 2 and Disc 4, I will refer you back to our coverage of the previous 2007 Blu-ray release.Especially as Ridley Scott claims in a short introductory video that he personally supervised the creation of the 4K HDR master. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the score, which has a much warmer tone while still retaining the cool allure of its '80s electronic elements.

Scott talks at length about his original vision, how it was diluted and challenged by the film's original producers, as well as what led to the 1992 "Director's Cut that isn't really a director's cut," and finally to the 2007 restoration. To that point, this isn't a complete set of bonus features and unfortunately is short sighted in that it doesn't do any pre-release promotion of the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. Covering more than just 'Blade Runner,' the recurring themes in all of Dick's novels are touched upon, as well as his continued relevance to the genre today. Blade Runner' finally sounds spatially alive and vibrant, with surrounds that now live and breathe -- just as it should be. Jordan Cronenweth's trend-setting cinematography can now be fully appreciated -- particularly his stunning use of light and shadow.Whether or not these added features are worth the extra thirty bucks or so for the 'Ultimate Edition' comes down to personal preference. Special Edition includes the 4K Ultra HD Final Cut, four finished versions of the film (including the Original Theatrical Cut, International Theatrical Cut and Director's Cut), the Workprint Feature Version, Documentary Dangerous Days and an exclusive art book with behind-the-scenes photos, production art, sketches and storyboards. Vangelis' score really pumps up the LFE tones and gives certain sequences an appreciable sense of dread. In any case, since the workprint is labeled as just that -- a workprint -- and is included here for its historical value, its poor quality doesn't detract at all from the set.
