About this deal

In addition to Pittyvaich, other ghost whiskies in the blend include whiskies from Port Dundas and Carsebridge. Rounding out the blend are rarities from (operating) distilleries in Speyside: Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore, and Strathmill, plus the Highland whisky of Royal Lochnagar. Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. The Port Dundas whisky has been combined with liquid from two further closed distilleries, Cambus and Brora. The whisky is then blended with rare Scotch from Cameronbridge, Glenkinchie, Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk. Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands including Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit and Buchanan's whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Casamigos, DeLeon and Don Julio tequilas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Tanqueray and Guinness. This Walker blend is very well-integrated. Everything comes together holistically in a way that would please just about anyone who enjoys good Scotch whisky. Smoke is a mere whisper–far less pronounced than sherry notes, or wood esters.

Naturally, there’s a lot more than Port Dundas in this blend, so I’ll let the House of Wlaker tell you some more about it all: Diageo has unveiled the fifth release in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare limited edition Scotch whisky series. Johnnie Walker Ghost and Rare Port Dundas will launch in October 2022 Its incredible character inspired us to create something truly extraordinary that pays proper tribute to the whisky makers of this storied Glasgow distillery.” The expression includes a blend of Port Dundas and two other “ghost” whiskies, a term used to describe extremely rare Scotch, from the distilleries in Cambus and Brora. These three ultra-rare whiskies are combined with five others from Cameronbridge, Glenkinchie, Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk. The combination results in a well-rounded and creamy final product, the brand writes.

The flavor

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. During my tasting (via a tasting kit), Ghost and Rare Port Ellen starts out closer to thetraditionalBlue Label, which is slightly smoky to begin with. It’s evident that the second expression is in keeping with the Blue Label DNA—just sweeter on the nose, reminiscent of vanilla. But as you progress a few sips further, you’ll begin to notice the distinct Port Ellen peatiness intensify (but not too much) on the palate. And the sweet roundness of vanilla bean highlighted by citrus notes will begin to emerge as well. Remember, though, that these flavors don’t show themselves until minutes after your first sip. It’s a Scotch that takes its time to unfold: Even its medium-light viscosity shows itself not during your first three sips, but a good while into the dram. Whiskybase B.V. As with the prior Ghost and Rare releases, this limited edition is blended with “irreplaceable ‘ghost whiskies’ from Scotch whisky distilleries that have long since closed.” The centerpiece of this one is Speyside’s Pittyvaich, which closed its doors in 1993.

Nestled among all of those aging casks are a number of whiskies from distilleries that are no longer with us, but their spirits remain. Dad jokes aside, these “Ghost” whiskies are understandably some of the most intriguing and sought after expressions. This leads us to Limited Edition Expressions. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and has released four such limited editions so far and have included Ghost whiskies from Brora, Port Ellen, and Glenury Royal. The most recent release features Pittyvaich as the starring “ghost.”In celebration of the pioneering achievements of Emma Walker and Ivona Tau, Johnnie Walker is creating more opportunities for women to achieve their goals with a dedicated business grant through IFundWomen- the go-to funding marketplace for women-owned businesses. Johnnie Walker master blender Jim Beveridge said: “We have waited patiently for the perfect moment to showcase this rare gem of the whisky world. Pittyvaich may only have thrived for a short period, but the whisky laid down by this distillery is something unmistakable. Its distinct autumnal character has always intrigued us and fired our imagination to create something really special that would pay tribute to the whisky makers of this Speyside distillery.”

Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Johnnie Walker originates from Scotland and has grown to become a classic brand of Scotch whisky. This beverage has a distinctive flavour, which is often described as rich, dark, and almost creamy — a great whisky for connoisseurs. While blended Scotch is smooth and buttery, single malt Scotch is oaky, with more of a woody flavour. The flavour is smoky due to the barley being exposed to the peat smoke during production, and if you are a fan of this distinctive flavour, you will enjoy our selection of Johnnie Walker whiskies.

Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. We shall first try to settle any dispute over a dram of whisky. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.
