About this deal

Sémillon from a single gravelly vineyard and made by the Blaye co-op in Bordeaux. Eight months’ oak-ageing after barrel-fermentation. Excellent varietal character on the nose and palate. Just the job for fans of the ‘green grape’. Green fruits and lanolin and a suggestion of quite a long life. Fresh and tangy, this is one of those wines that builds towards the long finish. Really individual blend of 80% Marsanne with Roussanne grapes. Racy and filigree-textured. Seven days’ maceration before fermentation in small, old barrels has resulted in a really interesting, pungent, quirky-but-recognisable Grüner with an appetising dry finish . Yes, Sauvignon Blanc should be chilled. Sauvignon Blanc should be served chilled between 6 - 8°C (43°F - 46°F) and stored cooler than room temperature at 11 - 15°C (51°F - 59°F). If you serve your Sauvignon Blanc at room temperature the balance of the wine won’t taste as it should. The alcohol will become more apparent, the aromas masked and the acidity will become astringent.

Light nose but on the palate it’s very recognisably Chablis and thoroughly appetising with green-fruit flavours and light wet-stone flavours too. This would make a great aperitif. It is best to avoid extremes or sudden changes of temperature and to avoid rooms with poor levels of humidity. Very clean, pure example of Austria’s signature grape variety. Just the job for proof of this producer’s neat, pleasing, varietally true style. Not a fancy wine but absolutely hits the button for varietal expression and early drinking. Mainly Sémillon with 15% Sauvignon Blanc and just a little bit of oak, this is a great-value alternative to white burgundy. Pungent, green-fruit flavours with a little bit of a smoky overlay. A really fine, quite complex wine to drink with food. If your Sauvignon Blanc gets too cold, take it out of the fridge 5 minutes before serving to help it warm up a little bit

Not unlike a Chablis but with an overlay of the South Atlantic. Lots of fruit. This would be an attractive aperitif and would really get the appetite going. It is also important to keep the bottles away from direct sunlight and any domestic appliances prone to vibrations (washing machines, for example.) Should You Put Sauvignon Blanc In The Fridge? Not only will the temperature of the wine fridge keep your Sauvignon Blanc chilled, but it will also store it in consistent conditions with limited light and a good humidity that won’t damage the bottle. Classic, pure, cool-climate Chardonnay that reminds me more of a good New Zealand Chardonnay than a typical, tight Australian Chardonnay. This may not be worth cellaring forever but it's nicely evolved and just lovely now. Lime and blossom and beautifully balanced.

Affordable white burgundy. Lightly nutty. Fresh and nicely balanced with recognisably burgundian savour. Not for long-term keeping but good for now. Equal parts organic Vermentino and Viognier. Very fruity and fun with a twang. Lots to enjoy here. Hedonistic.

To help get the most out of your glass of white wine, let’s take a look at the best temperatures and conditions to serve and store Sauvignon Blanc. Sauvignon Blanc Wine The length of time you should chill your Sauvignon Blanc depends on what type of fridge you are using. As a rule, Sauvignon Blanc is best served cold. The best temperature to serve Sauvignon Blanc is between 6-8°C (42-47°F). Classic Loire Sauvignon Blanc that’s a little lighter and drier than many an NZ Sauvignon. Gooseberry flavours with verve and grit. Oak-aged but the oak is not overdone and makes this wine creamy and satisfying – especially at this price. Salted lemon flavours. Fun and interesting.

Certified organic, very pure wine that has squeezed every ounce of flavour from the local Merseguera grape grown in the hills of Valencia. But usefully low in alcohol. Domestic refrigerators work well here but if you want to make sure that you are consistently serving your Sauvignon Blanc at the best temperature a specialised wine refrigerator is a good investment.

5 Tips on Serving Sauvignon Blanc

Intense, concentrated, screwcapped Austrian wine grown on gneiss and schist – really very rewarding. Gherkin and herb flavours – a lovely single-vineyard wine for drinking with or without food. Yes, like all white wines that should be chilled before serving, Sauvignon Blanc can reach the required serving temperature by being placed in a refrigerator. This could either be your domestic fridge, or a specialised wine fridge.
