About this deal

One of the things I noticed while wearing the slippers was shedding. According to Glerups, the first three or four weeks are the toughest on the wool, and they will shed, which is a normal occurrence due to the natural treatment of the wool fiber.

While some were made of high-quality leather, others relied on popular materials like memory foam for comfort. I looked at the slipper's soles to determine whether they created traction on different surfaces to prevent slipping. The outsole material should be made of something that will give you traction on various surfaces. I found soft rubber soles like those in the Crocs Classic Lined Clog and Vonmay Men's Slipper to be the best in traction and anti-skid. If you're looking for slippers that look like boots but provide the comfort of slippers, consider this option from Sorel. The heel and the tongue come up your foot just above ankle height and then drop below your ankle, giving you freedom to move your foot around. Either way, these slippers are not machine washable, and the recommended care for them is to use a suede brush. You could probably even use some mild suede cleaner along with that brush. But in all seriousness, they are great shoes disguised as slippers. A friend of mine has some, and she swears by them, but she only wears them in the house and around the yard. On the other hand, another friend wears them and adorns them with Jibbitz. I get it. They're comfortable. They don't smell (yes, I have been smelling them), and they're worth it. As I'm writing this, I found out that Crocs sells an actual slipper. Something I wasn't aware of when testing started. We'll have to put them to the test in the next round.

The ideal slipper design will ultimately come down to personal preference. However, there are two factors to consider to ensure that you select the best design for your needs. The upper material should be of good quality since this will have the most exposure besides the outsole. Materials such as leather and microfiber, like those found in the Minnetonka Men's Pile Lined Hardsole Slipper, are great options since they are durable. Getting in and out of a slipper is arguably one of my top priorities, which is why I chose the Ugg men’s Scuff Slippers. They're light, soft, comfortable, and easy to slip on and off. The Ugg Men's Scuff Slippers are my go-to slippers because of their craftsmanship, style, and materials like suede uppers, Uggplush material of upcycled wool and Tencel, and suede outsoles. Sure, there's no arch support, but these are the slippers you will wear when you get out of bed on a cold morning and stumble to the kitchen to grab your first cup of coffee. If you could have an all-terrain category for slippers, these would be the slippers. These slippers were comfortable right out of the starting gate. They are a let's-get-up-and-go type of slipper. Perfect for those morning walks with the dog, for walking around the house, avoiding the cold tile in the winter, and they're even great right out of the shower or hanging poolside. There were a couple of minor issues, like a long thread that wasn't cut, the heel collar would flatten if I didn't run my finger along it to make sure my heel wasn't resting on it, and when I washed it, it retained more water than I would have liked. On the upside, though, it dried in a day or so.

Step 7: Sew the Binding to the Slippers

I see the allure of Crocs now that I've tested them. Many people (like myself) have a very polarizing feeling about Crocs. They are everywhere, especially in the kitchens I worked in years ago—cooks/chefs love them for their incredible all-day comfort (similar to nurses). When I actually put them on, I was blown away by the comfort. If you’re looking for slippers that won’t break the bank and offer comfort, consider the Vonmay. After wearing them for two hours a day during the test, I can confirm that these slippers are very comfortable, thanks to a lot of cushion in the footbed. However, I noticed that when I walked, I sometimes felt the sides of the outsole rubbing against my foot. It wasn't something that caused any discomfort. It was just how the slippers were constructed (or maybe even how I was walking).
