About this deal

was spent touring the world, which culminated in Paul’s wonderful appearance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert singing “Radio Gaga” and the release of what turned out to be his final album for Sony, ‘The Crossing’ in 1993. This gave Paul the chance to work alongside some of his musical heroes; Tony Joe White, The Memphis Horns, and Billy Preston among many others. Working with the producer Don Was on the material for ‘The Crossing’, Paul was exploring new styles of music and the gulf between the musical past and future had begun to seem impossible to bridge. The single ‘Otis Blue’ from this album would be the last hit single with CBS, now Sony. Once freed from his contract Paul took time out to take a breath and to reflect; “Every artist wants to change, yet every record company wants them to stay the same”.

Outside I was calm, but inside I was screaming!” I was in chains No Parlez remains very of its time production-wise, and really quite strange for an album so big: something its maker agrees with. “Yes, it was an odd album. I knew what I wanted it to be in terms of the variety of songs, but in terms of what it sounded like, I had no idea until we finished. But I knew that we wanted to mix old with new. Beyond that, it just came together – something that was serendipitous and meant to be, really.”

I thought it was more introspective and also, I was taking on the responsibility of being a pop star. Paul - Paul Young About Paul - Paul Young

In 2014 Paul divided his time between Los Pacaminos in their 22 nd year and releasing their new album “A Fistful Of Statins” on June 30th, being a radio dj, promoting his cookbook, recording more Paul Young material, and performing live concerts. Paul Antony Young [4] [5] (born 17 January 1956) [6] is an English musician, singer and songwriter. An exasperated Paul continues: “So in Between Two Fires, I tried to create an album that these US stations would like. But they didn’t like it and neither did the Europeans! But I still think there are some good songs on there, such as War Games and Wasting My Time. It’s still got some great material on it.”Paul Young with Pino Palladino: I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down (1984). Retrieved 24 January 2012 The year 1984 was difficult for Young. His first heavy promotional and live concert tour of America strained his vocal cords to the extent that he was forced to rest his voice and did not sing for much of the year. [18] He recovered sufficiently to become involved with the Band Aid single " Do They Know It's Christmas?", an all-star charity project put together by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure for Ethiopian famine relief. Young sang the opening lines of the song as a replacement for David Bowie. [19]
