Beronia was founded in 1973 by a group of friends with a passion for fine food and the shared desire to create wines worthy of pairing with their culinary creations at their local “txoko” (gastronomic society club). Made from our prized, old vine grapes, our Gran Reserva develops depth and complexity after spending more than two years aging in French oak barrels, followed by a further three years careful resting in bottle before release. The aromas are intensely aromatic, featuring citrus notes, white fruits like pear, and herbaceous hints of fennel. On the palate, it has a meaty, well-structured feel with black fruits standing out, along with notes of cocoa, mint and a hint of tobacco. A particular feature at Beronia are the mixed oak barrels, where the body staves of the cask are made from American oak, while the ends are French.
