About this deal

Finally and of equal importance is to mention the shape and design. Again I had some pre-conceived idea when I first took it out of the box; too short and sloping grip not right ? How wrong could I be ! As soon as it was coupled to a XLR cable the feel of the SM58S was just right both in weight and design. Its apparent shortness (compared with some more recent designs) was just an absolute boon to an amateur quizmaster, such as myself, who has to hold a microphone for couple of hours in a crowded room where questions are read and an appropriate pause is the norm. I say, this bearing in mind that it is not appropriate at such events to stay in one place using a stand. Beta58 has a significantly higher output level at similar SPL - if you are working with less expensive preamps this can be a big advantage. With the SM58, it depends a lot on the preamp used if you get pro level results or not. You can depend on the SM58S to do your voice justice. Exceptional performance and build quality have earned it a legendary reputation both in the recording studio and on stage. Now with a silent on/off switch, you've got full control - right at your fingertips. It's no surprise that when The Killers cut Mr Brightside, when Patti Smith gave power to the people, and when Public Enemy brought the noise, they were all holding Shure's legendary microphone. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. With its frequency response optimised for vocals and the warm, clear sound, the SM58 is the legend among vocal microphones worldwide.

Please Note: The image depicted is merely representative of the bundle and variations might occur depending on the options you select. Consistently the first choice of performers around the globe, the SM58S vocal microphone is a genuine world standard and a true audio legend. The Shure SM58S is a unidirectional (cardioid) dynamic vocal microphone designed for professional vocal use in live performance, sound reinforcement, and studio recording. You can be confident of its durability - Shure tried freezing it, cooking it, and submerging it. They even dropped it from a 7-story building and it still worked! Once you know that, you understand why The Rolling Stones take the SM58 on tour.So if you're still trying to make up your mind about whether to go for a SM58 or not, just buy one anyway, and make up your mind later. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty There are numerous design features that have lead to the SM58 being the world’s most popular microphone and such a legendary piece of equipment. The SM58 is Industry standard fo dynamic handheld mics for a reason. Maybe the Beta58 suits you better, though. A short omparison:

The SM58SE, like all Shure products has been built to last. The casing on the microphone has been created entirely from metal for a heavy duty ruggedness that can withstand the rigours of touring and even the most lively performances. Beta58 has an extended high frequency response, it's high mids / low highs ('presence') are a little faint, but can be easily EQed in, as it takes EQ very well. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. The frequency range the SM58 focuses on is perfect for the capturing of warm, full-bodied vocals while the smooth, low-cut roll off helps to reduce handling noise, wind noise and plosives. The sound profile was also designed with a cardioid polar pattern and ‘bass roll-off’. This feature allows for the ‘proximity effect’ (increasing bass by moving closer to the mic) letting singers make changes to their vocal tone on the fly.For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided.

If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Personally I don't think a review is required for a SM58, but for those of you who are fairly new to the game, and are not just simply looking for a mic, but looking to invest in a piece of equipment that will be with you for MANY years.......... Read on! Giving the microphone appropriate equalisation via the mixer it gave my voice a flattering good cadence. Not only that; when I gave our honoured guest a stint on reading the political questions selection, (she being our local MP) the SM58S gave her voice the same accurate projection as it did of mine. In an emergency you can use it pretty much across the stage, it will even handle the sound pressure from a snare drum, but there are better mics suited for that.

Does the Shure SM58 produce good sound?

The SM58 has just about been around since the beginning of time. It's the ultimate vocal microphone. It's not only extremely robust, but is able to transfer all the vocal frequencies you throw at it though to your mixing desk, whether it be soft female vocals, or loud male vocals from a thrash metal band, so it can really take a beating on being shouted into and doesn't distort. The Shure SM58S with Mic Stand is a customisable bundle consisting of Shure's premier dynamic vocal microphone, the SM58 with on/off switch, as well as a microphone stand and XLR cable of your choice. Ideal for home recording, travelling entertainers, live music venues, touring artists, podcasters, studios, practice venues, and vocalists of all kinds, the SM58S is one of the best-in-class live microphones for a reason. Shure SM58s has a durable build. Whatever you do with it, it is very unlikely to break. You shouldn’t try using it as a hammer, as has been suggested by some… but it is certainly strong enough to survive a dozen of drops and more. Don’t get too excited though. Most recent dynamic mics won’t fall in pieces either, as all of them have a very simple construction. In case with SM58s, it is just a capsule wrapped in ball-like screen, which by the way acts as an effective pop filter, and an on/off switch. That’s it. The original Shure SM58 doesn’t even have that switch, but I suggest you go for the “s” aka switch version. Verdict As far as I'm concerned, if you had to look up the word "microphone" in the dictionary, it would say "See Shure SM58"
