About this deal

From the New York Times bestselling author of Better than the Movies, this swoon-worthy rom-com in the vein of She’s All That and 10 Things I Hate About You follows a teen girl who unwittingly finds herself at the centre of a bet while working at a waterpark. A few years later, Bailey and Charlie end up being co-workers at a hotel waterpark where they transition from co-workers to 'friends' to.

I know I’ve sounded super down on this, but there were times I thought Charlie and Bailey had such cute interactions and were really great for each other. I think the only thing that I would critic is that there is some miscommunication between Scott not having a daughter, but then having a daughter. NO GOOD ROMANCE starts off with the fmc watching the mmc literally suction the shit out of a random girl's face, and then complain about commitment issues 5 minutes later.I have mixed feelings about Bailey, on one hand she is smart, stubborn, funny, and engaging, but on the other hand she was dramatic at times and I didn't like how she treated her friend and mom. his inner monologue was everything, the way he canceled a party at his house because SHE NEEDED HIM? When you’re in the room, every single cell in my body—every nerve, every muscle, every breath—is lost in you. the tension was really well done and i liked how the progression of their relationship felt realistic.

I did think that their relationship was missing something as I read through the book, which is weird because this author has always delivered on relationships for me in the past. the beginning of the book was kinda slow ☹️ i was originally a teeny, tiny bit bored - i didn't really get into it until their trip to colorado began. There was a vibe to the way she dressed, the whole I-don't-think-that-cardigan-even-fits-her-but-damn-she-looks-perfect kind of thing.A lot of the book deals with both Bailey and Charlie’s feelings about their parents separating and dating again (more Bailey than Charlie, who doesn’t tend to disclose as much). i was torn between three and four stars but i’m weak, emotional and soft so here we are 😭😭 it’s not that i didn’t enjoyed the book (cause i did!

But they didn't talk that way around parents and in situations where it wouldn't be appropriate, so in that sense it felt pretty realistic. I did really enjoy the progression of Charlie and Bailey’s friendship, and I loved the way they acted around each other. But including all these random references to literally everything to ever exist in this world is just a big NO for me. I could have done with a little bit less of Charlie being a complete ass and trying to ignore his feelings, but I liked the way things worked out in the end. And if you havn't read Lynn Painter before, I'd suggest looking into her backlist books as well because they're all great!

It pulled me out of my own head when I was reading it, and had me feeling a little bit of everything.
