My 10 year old generally prefers audio books to actual reading, but he's devoured the hard copy of this story and is excited to see the next in the series. The tone of the book is fantastic and it reads smoothly, peppers with hilarious illustrations that clarify key moments within the tale. For any kid transfixed by Norse mythology […] it’s silly, full of cheeky jokes and mischief, and peopled by believable, fallible characters who just happen to be gods.

Furious that he must suffer indignities such as attending school and doing chores, Loki struggles to be good. At the end of the book my class gave a spontaneous round of applause which they've never done before! Another fabulously funny read from Louie Stowell, this time with a very clever exploration of good/evil and empathy!Norse mythology is deftly woven in, with enough explanations (and diagrams) that it would be understandable to someone completely new to it, but with plenty of references that will make those who do understand them chuckle. Having read the story myself, I had a good feeling that my Year 4 class (avid lovers of the classic 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid') would greatly enjoy this particular book. Another hilarious Loki book […] Loved the explanations of mortal things such as zoos, mall etc that made me laugh out loud. Private School: a place where the children of the rich learn how to talk over each other and are told on a daily basis that they are born to rule the world.
