The N-Strike Modulus series was officially announced at the 2015 New York Toy Fair, showcasing the series titular blaster, the Modulus ECS-10, alongside a few upgrade kits. The modular nature of the blaster was great for the 5 year old as we shrunk it down for him and put the grip on and he could use it, while the 8 year old used most of the attachments and the adults use the whole thing. It's not too bulky either, so younger Nerf warriors won't be weighed down (the Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm is also a contender for much the same reason, but that one's not so widely available anymore).

The best difference between the Stryfe and the Modulus is that testing of the LiFePo4 batteries in a Nerf War suggests the thermistor/ resistors of the Modulus are more tolerant and do not necessarily need to be removed since no-one complained of it overheating during play (like they did with the Stryfe many times before thermistor/resistor and electronic lock removals). This new addition to the line-up has completely changed the game - it removes the need to pick up darts after use, is rechargeable, and remains lots of fun. Seriously, they don't leave any sort of mess and help you avoid the dreaded dart pickup following a backyard battle. The performance of this blaster is on par with the Nerf Stryfe and seems to be just as loved by the Nerf community as a base platform. Biodegradable ammunition you don't need to clean up sounds too good to be true, and 'water-hydrated rounds' feel like a recipe for disaster.
