Inspired by the trailblazing 12-dB Oberheim SEM filter, you can make MicroFreak’s filter scream or whisper to taste. The filter is state-variable, and can even auto-oscillate! You can use this is any way you like, from taking the edge of the razor-sharp wavetable sounds or automating the cutoff by modulating it with keyboard pressure or the in-built sequencer.

A Freak of a Synth from Arturia

I am not going to go into the details about just how much this little machine can do, you really have to experience it for yourself. What I will say is that it is a very welcome addition to my "arsenal of my Modular and Contemporary Synths (Digitize, Skulpt SE's, HydraSynth, 5 Roland Boutiques and ARIA to name a few) and has a large role in my Sound and Music Production

Build Quality: It's plastic but I feel very well built. I'm not touring with it or carrying it everywhere. It sits on my Workstation so again not an issue for me. Frequency Modulation (two operators) – a method of synthesis where a wave modulates the frequency of another wave, Learning Curve might be a bit hard for beginners but still a perfect Synth to learn by and explore so don't let that discourage you! Moreover it has built in sequencer, that lets you to use it either as a step sequencer or record in real time. There's also a possibility of randomising sequences via slice and dice function.USB Powering for many people has been unpredictable causing different issues but using the included power supply solves this problem, so why not just use it!. This update, plus ALL the of previous updates (see Vocoder & Noise Engineering oscillators etc.) cement the MicroFreak as one of the most interesting, powerful and flexible synthesizers on the market, whilst maintaining excellent value for money.
