About this deal

This is a handy feature that’s rarely found on comparable models. On some other units, the manufacturer recommends that you fold the edges of area rugs underneath themselves to stop a carpet robo-cleaner from rolling over them when they’re mopping. However, this ridiculous solution is totally unnecessary when you have a machine like the SpinWave on the job. Sleek Design Thanks to its multi-surface cleaning formula and dual spinning pads, the SpinWave left my floors shinier after a single pass than any other floor-cleaning robot I've tested. Other robots that mop with just water and a motionless pad tend to leave streaks and take a couple runs to get your floors shiny. The SpinWave achieved that result in just one pass, leaving both the laminate in my living and dining room and the tile in my kitchen looking clean and streak-free. As an added bonus, the multi-surface cleaning solution smells good. You can even deploy your unit while you’re at work. When you come home, you’ll be ecstatic at the sight of freshly mopped floors or clean carpets (depending on which mode you activate). It’s even for people who work from the comfort of their own homes. Its super quiet operation means you can run it during Zoom calls without the shrill shriek of an overly loud vacuum cleaner disturbing an important meeting. Small spaces including apartments (as long as not cluttered) and midsize homes should do well. Large spaces are fine, too, but battery may need recharging to fully cover a larger home. We test robot mops in our actual homes, keeping the following criteria in mind: battery life, navigation, ease of setup and operation, and performance.

Really quiet operation--not silent, but quiet enough you can watch TV or take a phone call with it running The robot comes with a dry tank for vacuuming and a tank for mopping. The wet tank features two circular mop pads on the bottom that spin to scrub hard floors with a cleaning solution or just plain water. Bissell makes several different solutions you can use when mopping, including multi-surface, pet multi-surface with Febreze, and sanitizing formulas. Let’s say you have height differences between types of flooring in your home (for example, between a low-pile carpet and a hardwood floor). In that case, you’ll be glad to hear that the Bissell SpinWave can handle these transitions without any loss of operational performance. When it reaches the edge of a rug, it simply turns around in the other direction. It can even detect and avoid carpeting in mopping mode. That way, your carpets won’t get unnecessarily wet.

Controlling the SpinWave

People with mobility issues and certain disabilities may really benefit from a robot vacuum, but you have to evaluate if a pricier product that uses mapping technologies and automatic waste removal would be better. We think you still need to do a detail/base clean about once or twice a month using your regular vacuum and steam mop, but the robot is great for everyday maintenance If you have younger kids, you'll need to clean up toys and clutter from the floor first and larger bits of dropped food, but otherwise it should work OK on wet and dry messes. There is a sanitizing solution you can buy for use with the mop tank, too. When this unit runs, it does a good job. I wanted this for the mop to work in tandem with another robot vacuum. I could definitely tell my floors were cleaner. This did a good job of identifying where rugs were and avoiding them. It does a good job of mapping the layout of my home, like most vacuums with LiDAR. Like most floor-cleaning robots, the SpinWave requires regular maintenance, which includes emptying and washing the dustbin after every few sessions, and periodically cleaning the brush roll and caster wheel. You'll also need to occasionally clean the edge brushes, or replace them altogether, to maintain optimal performance. Bissell offers maintenance instructions in the SpinWave manual, and how-to videos in its app.

Cons: the app kinda glitchy. Sometimes the connection with the robot is lagging. Battery life cleans our entire downstairs (1000sq ft) with one charge and has more juice left but not enough to do say a dry mode immediately followed by a wet mode. We have a semi professional GE cafe range and with no zone set up it tries to go under it even tho the top part is too high. The robot has also "mapped" through the sliding glass door and it does try to get out through the glass. So we had to set up a zone for that. Speaking of zones, my last complaint is one time I put it in our downstairs bathroom and closed the door and ran it, and it lost all mapping we previously had done - you can't bring it up and down stairs without redoing the mapping. From there, it walks you through the setup process. Press Get Started, select the SpinWave Robot from the list, turn it on if you haven't already done so, and press OK. The app then instructs you to locate a QR code under the dustbin and scan it with your phone to start the pairing process. It's worth mentioning that at one point in testing, the robot experienced a connectivity issue and wouldn't work with the app. I had to remove it from the app, then go through the setup process again, after which it worked fine. If you have older kids who are good at doing chores like vacuuming and mopping, you can skip the robot, but if your kids are too busy or not good at chores, then the robot may be a really good idea. It would sometimes randomly stop because it had an error for not being able to locate the base in the middle of a scheduled cleaning. Pushing either the clean button or home button would get it to working again.Do a good floor clean before using this robot. Since this is better for maintenance, you’ll get better results. The target audience is pet owners, so, yes, if you have a pet this will work for you--but if you don't have pets, it's a great product at a great price regardless The Spinwave comes with 2 scrubby pads and 2 soft touch pads. It also comes with two 8 oz. bottles of multi-surface formula cleaning solution. We found the robot runs for about 1.5 hours in dry mode with medium suction before needing to recharge, which is enough to clean the main floors. You can extend the run time by setting a lower suction strength in the settings. When on sale, you could buy multiple robots to cover different zones or floors of a larger home separately.

Works equally well on hard floors, vinyl, tile, wood, and on carpet, and mopping performance good (but not as good as a human) Most of the time, you'll probably run it in Auto mode so it mops everywhere, but Bissell recommends using Spot mode with its sanitizing formula to clean up concentrated messes, like pet accidents. To do this, simply place the robot in the center of the area you want to clean, then select Spot mode in the app. Your floor will likely be wet and slippery after running the SpinWave in Spot mode, so use caution until it dries. No matter how you run the Bissell SpinWave R5, it is surprisingly quiet as it maxes out at just 60dB when in use. While certainly not silent, it's not distracting in the same way as a typical vacuum and is much quieter than other robot vacuums I've used, particularly budget and mid-priced Roomba models. But I had too many issues with this that I decided to return it. It would constantly drop wifi connection. When this happened, it would not run according to the programmed schedule. year limited warranty: Bissell will replace any parts that break or malfunction under normal conditions except for those you must replace regularly, such as cleaning pads. It doesn’t cover breakage from user negligence, self-repairs, or any other unauthorized use (see user manual).Run the vacuum portion of the robot first then do the mopping feature. The bin is smaller on the mop canister.

If vacuuming and mopping just aren't happening, then you, because it's way better than not cleaning. Dry vacuuming performance is excellent. Definitely not as good as with our Miele cannister vac, but we have to use the Miele way way less now. It easily removes crumbs, hair, fur, bulkier items up to the size of about a large marble, smaller leaves, pine needles, and definitely dust dust bunnies. The carpets look fresh vacuumed texture-wise, too. Because it has all the features of the standard Roomba j7+–a self-emptying dustbin, AI-powered obstacle avoidance, and a poop-evasion guarantee–in addition to mopping abilities, the Combo j7+ is an excellent option for homes with a mix of hard floors and carpeting. Some high-end competitors on this list offer more scrubbing oomph and require less mop maintenance, but the Combo j7+ is a top choice for efficient double-duty cleaning runs.Powered rotating spray mop, for washing hard floors including tiles, stone, laminate and delicate wood On-demand spray trigger allows you to control the amount of water and detergent that gets applied to the floor.
