The touch control scheme is also fairly rudimentary, with only two controls available and very few commands to assign to them. My time with the OpenFit gave me no reason to doubt this; even tracks that lean towards the brighter side of things managed to carry decent impact with their bass notes. They’re no replacement for fully waterproof options like Shokz’ own OpenSwim (formerly Xtrainerz), however.This is better than many of the best true wireless earbuds although isn’t quite as impressive as the IP55 rating from the Shokz Open Run Pro. Those changes and promised audio improvements make the OpenFit the priciest pair of headphones in the Shokz collection. Unlike conventional earbuds, the OpenFit don’t nestle into the contours of your ear, instead using ergonomic silicone hooks that tuck behind your ears to suspend a small speaker nodule over your ear canals. Its radical open-ear design, which may also have inspired JBL’s Soundgear Sense, also requires certain compromises.

It means you should have no difficulty connecting to most of the devices in your home, except for really old devices. You can also hear your surroundings perfectly without the artificial sound of transparency mode on conventional earbuds. They can certainly have their frustrating moments as well and that’s why physical controls are generally still great on headphones. But it isn't as good as the Beats PowerBeats Pro at 9 hours or the Shokz Open Run Pro with a more impressive 10 hours of battery life.With the Shokz OpenFit, you always stay a bit connected to your environment and enjoy a sound that is remotely reminiscent of speakers in a room.
