About this deal

Instead, the series got locked into a series of drab-looking interiors, cheaply designed by Chris Wilkinson and unimaginatively shot by directors James Cellan Jones and John Glenister.

Depending on the edition/translation, there are several stories that are released with different names (Maigret Goes Home is Maigret and the St. Atkinson, despite lacking the proper physical stature does a good job, although his portrayal is uber sensitive. There are two great Maigret adaptations available online or in DVDs from the 1990s, the British version done by Granada for two seasons in 1992, starring Michael Gambon, and the Dune French version that lasted from 1991 until 2005 with Bruno Cremer.International film star Bruno Cremer ( The Octopus, Sorcerer) is unsurpassed as Georges Simenon's beloved Parisian Inspector in this long-running French series based on the bestselling novels. There are enough twists and turns in the plot lines that it is often difficult to know who the real culprit is until the end of the show. Episode 3 has maybe the oddest characters and the most unsettling atmosphere, which is saying something. So, in conclusion, the first season is a drab-looking cheap endeavour whilst the second season is the prestige show you'd expect from a Granada-produced "Maigret" series. Scenes go on forever, dialogue is long-winded and exposition-heavy, and there is minimal use of locations.

Also the locations and sets make you feel as if you are right there on the case with the Chief Inspector and his men. Michael Gambon is spot-on as Maigret, one of the best and most faithful to the books as a matter of fact.

Meanwhile, a plump little man in a tan raincoat and black Homburg runs scared through the Paris streets. I like the recent,Rowan Atkinson version of Maigret but this version is bigger budget and a better view of Maigret and his team in a more sinful Paris. All we get in the film is a few minutes of abuse and antagonism from a couple of characters in the local bar.

Along the way, there are also fun appearances from future stars including Michael Sheen, Minnie Driver and Steven Mackintosh. Maigret sets a Trap" is an excellent example of this and it makes a great final episode for the first series. A detective who is thoughtful, human, philosophical and deeply interested in people from all walks of life and what drives them. The adaptation by Bill Gallagher doesn't quite have the same bite as the Simenon original but it retells the story with clarity and wit. com, the Sell on Etsy app, and the Etsy app, as well as the electricity that powers Etsy’s global offices and employees working remotely from home in the US.

We started with the Rowan Atkinson version which is very good but this Micheal Gambon version is far more approachable and likeable. Very French sometimes dark but love George Simeon an these movies are great if you like foreign movies It has sub titles but Bruno Cremer was the perfect Maigret. I think the Atkinson version was just awful, though it gets points for possibly bringing new readers to a terrific author. Bruno Cremer makes a wonderful Maigret and the stories are set, visually,in the France of the early post war period, very atmospheric. In his investigations, from Montmartre to the remote French countryside, Maigret encounters the dark side of life; yet, he calmly maintains an empathetic demeanor as he explores the complex motives that lie behind every crime. Appearances from poorly dubbed Hungarians are kept to a minimum and occasionally an unknown actor shows up to give an outstanding performance such as Susie Lindeman who absolutely steals the show with her witty and loveable performance in "Maigret and the Maid".
