Since graduating from the RNCM Masters programme 10 years ago, Alex has based himself in South Manchester, and currently works as a piano teacher, accompanist, and performer. Recently he has developed a taste for jazz, and this programme explores music at the crossover of jazz and classical idioms. This music is joyful, exuberant, and is guaranteed to leave you with a spring in your step and a smile on your face!Nikolai Kapustin is a Russian composer and pianist, born 1937. Graduating from the Moscow conservatoire he shares a lineage with composers such as Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev, and Horowitz. He is described as 'a classical composer who happens to work in a jazz idiom'. His music is full of delight, humour, and virtuosity!Earl Wild, born 1915, was a pianist in the grand Romantic tradition, with a teaching lineage that can be traced back to Busoni and Liszt. He was an arranger and composer, and influences of Debussy, Ravel and Rachmaninov can be heard in these works.
