About this deal

At least, in Kill Team they do. Firefights take place in such close quarters that very few weapons need to worry about range, and most can shoot from one side of the killzone to the other. Finally, there are also bespoke ploys to help you demonstrate your devotion to the Emperor even harder. We’ve chosen a couple of especially fervent examples – Glorious Martyrdom lets you hurt yourself in exchange for extra faith points, while Aegis of the Emperor lets you hurt perfidious psykers just by closing your eyes and thinking really, really hard about how much you love Him. The standard use-case is to park this guy in an obscured position so that you can System Jam, and drop -1 APL on opposing operatives. There’s some play putting a High-Intensity Markerlight and Target Analysis Optic on this operative, so you can act as a 4-markerlight operative each activation. He won’t be moving much, but spitting out pulses from an obscured position can be very obnoxious on some maps. Assault Grenadier Pathfinder

The new edition of Kill Team introduced the concept of Fire Teams. Fire Teams are basically how you make up your squad. Depending on your faction, you usually get either one or two fire teams in a Kill team. This means that players can only field models from one or two units (i.e. Assault Intercessors and/or Terminators) as they are described in the Kill Team Compendium. All of this fervour and piety does actually pay off, you see. The more zealous your Novitiates are in the prosecution of their duties – skulking around, sneaking about, covertly chunking enemy operatives with giant swords – the more points you earn to spend on Acts of Faith. And what do faith points mean? Re-rolls and extra crits. Devotion pays dividends. An important note about ceaseless and overwatch against 7w, 5+ save models: The Ceaseless abilty on the gun means you’ll normally end up chipping in 3-4 damage. Mv1 Gun Drone Kauyon– The niche art of war, when you expect to get shot at early or unexpectedly and you want to counter punch with engaged models. Lets you retain an additional dice as a successful normal save in cover. Double retains in cover pushes your chance of dying from kraks and bolters down 10-20%, compared to just retaining one dice.I mean, when it’s all finished it’s a seriously impressive collection of scenery. This is the kind of stuff that’ll find a home on armies on parade boards across the world this time next year. But, and there is, unfortunately, a big but, it is a real pain to put together. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Price and Availability Pathfinder weapons with “ Pulse”in their name, such as Pulse Carbines, can be augmented by a Pulse Accelerator Drone, so look for that when outfitting your Kill Team. Saviour Protocols

What’s better than having your own personal objectives to compete for? Keeping them secret from your opponent and revealing your victory with a dramatic flourish, that’s what. 8. Jump Out at Orks and Shout Boo

Pathfinder Fire Team

Where you head to next after Chalnath depends entirely on what you want to get out of the box. If you were just after the box for 23 unique figures to paint, then turn you’ll likely want to cast your eyes over the Adepta Sororitas and T’au ranges. The Adepta Sororitas in particular have some stand-out HQ models that are a delight to paint. Pathfinder Drone operatives offer powerful bonuses to their Kill Team, but it comes with a few disadvantages: They can’t perform mission actions, they’re worse at controlling objectives, they don’t benefit from cover as well as other operatives, and they mostly can’t wear equipment. They also measure line of sight differently, since they have a near-360 degree field of vision from their discs rather than eyes. Pulse Weapons

This evolved Pathfinders kill team has access to exciting new toys including a manual control system for their drone support, a marksman rail rifle with inertial dampeners and silent dart rounds, and a debonair pair of wrap-around shades for every team member. Shas’ui Pathfinder Many kill teams are experts in stealth and camouflage, only striking when the time is right. Others, like the Astra Militarum, bring artillery along , because of course they do. 13. Oodles of Options Give units from your Crusade campaign a story all of their own by taking them on Kill Team missions to enhance your narrative play experience. 6. Regular Updates There are also plenty of heads and limbs and other bits and pieces left over at the end to kitbash with or decorate the bases of your T’au-killing armies. CAVE: Follow the same steps as described under step 5. Weapons Expert Pathfinder (Ion Rifle)-Part and take care / keep in mind to swap out necessary parts as necessary (which basically only are the arms and weapon(s)). As I stated under Sidenote #1, I’d recommend building two of this variant, but it really comes down to your personal preference in the end.

The Sample

Taken in tandem with a box like Octarius, it adds a significant amount of content to any budding Kill Team collection. Of course, if you don’t own a copy of Octarius, you’re going to be short a few of the things you need to actually play the game, such as the Core Book and the accursed Compendium, the latter of which which didn’t come with Octarius either. Tac op 2: Patient Hunter – If more than half of your team is concealed and you score more primary mission VP, you can score this. I’ve often found this to be too hard. When your team is 7w 5+sv, it’s hard to actually stay concealed on open boards, while somehow winning on primary missions more than 1 turn. I’ve generally skipped this. CAVE: I found it relatively hard finding a good angle to glue down the head. You really should plan ahead here and take care that the head has a good fit on the place you plan to glue it down. Also, I recommend assemble the left arm before you glue it to the torso. Make sure to let the weapon and attached arm completely dry before attaching it to the torso, because otherwise you might snip off the weapon from the arm when you get the wrong angle and apply to much pressure. I also glued down the pouch after I placed the connected torso and legs on the base. Durability– Pathfinders take punches as hard as they deal them. 7 wounds on a 5+ armor save makes them about as durable as the standard guardsman, but unlike some other imperial factions they can’t use their faith to get an activation from death. Whilst five of the scenery pieces are, indeed, the kind of low ruined walls one may expect to find littering the battlefield of any table top game of 40K, the final two bits of scenery, which are much larger sections of ruined buildings (or one ruined building if you position it in such a way) are enormous.

As per the latest update, a Pathfinder Kill Team has 12 operatives (unless certain conditions are met, as explained below), rather than the 13 it had at release, and you can choose between the following operative types. Shas’ui Pathfinder (must take 1 per Kill Team)

Acts of Faith

Expectations are high for Chalnath, then. The first expansion to the new Kill Team system sees the Kriegsmen and Orks replaced with the Emperor’s most zealous followers, the Adepta Sororitas, and the blue-skinned advocates of the Greater Good, the T’au (or is it just Tau without the apostrophe these days? I can’t figure it out). Not only did it place the legendary Death Korps of Krieg at the forefront of the Warhammer 40,000 universe along with everyone’s favourite green-skinned ladz, but it also catapulted the Kill Team game system into the forefront of everyone’s minds – and added some seriously sweet figures to our collections. I think there is an effective engaged operative gameplan that focuses on setting up 5 markerlights on important opposing operatives on turn 1. Against elites this sort of gameplay pattern can make things look hopeless for opponents. Having Ion/Rail rifles delete big chunky elites with Bonded and BS 3+ makes the elite match up one of the easier ones for your team. When running this strategy it’s best to have the Killing Blow tac op, and Plant Signal Beacon. Since you can generally focus on 1 flank and push up to score Plant Signal Beacon, while applying lethal firepower. Getting a knife in the ribs is just as lethal as it sounds, and only your own skills as a duelist will protect you when a very angry Ork charges in for the kill – which is every bit as cool to play out on the tabletop as you’d expect.
