We had so many enquiries about screen printing courses that we're launching two new events at the Weavers Factory in July.Salford textile printmaker Sally Gilford will be teaching two one-day workshops on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of July here at the Weavers Factory in Saddleworth. Using our patron 1950s textile designer Joan Charnley as inspiration, Sally will give you the opportunity to explore Mid-century fabric design and style using water-based inks and stencils.You will learn how to surface print your designs onto a selection of fabrics that you can take away at the end of the workshop.We've already sold quite a few tickets so if you'd like to join Sally at the Weavers Factory in July, book tickets on the link belowABOUT SALLYSpecialising in printed textiles, Sally Gilford creates bold, vibrant designs inspired by humans and nature. She is interested in using textiles to communicate and tell stories in unexpected ways. Currently working with researchers from the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Matrix Research, she explores the connections between art and science, creating distinctive responses to original images of scientific research.She incorporates hand printed and digital processes into her work and a selection of her fabrics are one off pieces whilst others can be made to order. In addition to the fabrics available on her online shop she also accepts commission based work.Through her work as a creative practitioner and producer, Sally facilitates the exploration of multi disciplinary art forms to encourage self-expression; creative experimentation and process lead artistic collaboration. She has worked as an educator and socially engaged practitioner for over 10 years across a diverse range of organisations and in a variety of settings including internationally recognised galleries and museums.http://sallygilford.com
