This is a bare unit, it is not supplied with batteries or a charger, however the included belt clip makes for easy transportation around the work place, between jobs. Both impact drivers come with variable speed trigger for finer power control, and electronic brake when you let go of the trigger. The Z after the model number indicates that it is the body only without battery, as the battery size can change the hight of the impact driver. Most people believe that it is worth spending that bit extra to get brushless and I have to agree, it's well worth it. It’s quite disappointing that Makita did not increase these in the DTD171, however, 3,800 IPM and 3,600 RPM is still very good.
