Think of some times when you felt motivated and confident. What were you doing? Who were you with? Where were you? There’s a term in psychology called ‘attribution error’. Thus, people will try to overcompensate for that by trying to do everything perfectly, which is just an impossible goal to set yourself.

For example, if you don’t go to the gym for a week because you have a cold, you might think, “I’m always so lazy”, instead of “I don’t have as much energy this week while I’m dealing with this cold.” Low self-esteem can have an impact on how you think.
