About this deal

In general, you’ll struggle to keep the system quiet in this case with any GPU rated higher than ~100W. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.

Air will be drawn into the heatsink from the vented slot and from the empty fan placement and blown out. This is why I am going with lower TDP CPU and I want to wait for Pascal with GDDR5X(or even GDDR6 hopefully). While a Noctua NH-L12S HSF would have been my personal choice of heatsink for this chassis, the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 ( reviewed here) put up an equal fight in our testing. The lower part of the Node 202 is the one exception to this; it's glossy and highly reflective, and hence will pick up fingerprints.

I wish the clips that hold the bottom part of the case onto the frame were designed a little better- they can be very tricky to get off. I thought of the AIO cooler too, but it is a very slim build and it is unlikely that 120x120 radiator and a fan will be able to handle both CPU and GPU, plus there will be absolutely no air circulation in the case which will most likely generate extra heat. The housing frame is released from the base by tilting it forward and carefully releasing all barbs. With that bar removed, the whole PCI Riser assembly can be removed for the safe installation of the motherboard.

Like many HTPC or media center style cases, the Fractal Design Node 202 has fairly simple exterior design, but it’s thinner than most. Standard 25 mm thick fans would press right up against the GPU fans, and this fan stacking would create horrendous noise. We also had Chieftec SFX Gold 500W, but this Zalman can handle everything very well, even tested R9 390 on it and it worked without a problem, though not sure how well it will handle the GPU in the long run. Even the best result, a delta T of 59°C in the vertical arrangement, is 8°C warmer than the SilverStone RVZ02 in its horizontal operation. meacupla - Monday, June 6, 2016 - link I'm pretty sure ML08/RVZ02 has ever-so-slightly better cooling capacity than Node 202.

Included is a solid PCIe riser "card", various screws, self-adhesive rubber feet, an extra long power cable and in my case an already installed Integra 450W SFX power supply. Recently Fractal Design has released the Node 202 slim-desktop case and as soon as it hit the shelves in Russia I bought it (apparently only 10 were sold since the release). There's enough space in it for a large water cooling thingy on the front, and they've put SSD mounts on most flat surfaces. One of the mobo temps seemed higher than everything else, not sure whats up with that, but the HD temp seemed fine throughout. You might get away without using liquid metal if you have a card with a larger fin array on your gpu, but the one on this zotac is tiny. Step 16 Note that you have to pull any cables at the same time as inserting the GPU / GPU mount through the opening 4 at the rear end, otherwise you will not be able to reach it.
