About this deal

Ardbeg Distillery is situated on the south coast of the isle of Islay. Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy owns t he distillery and produces a heavily peated Islay whisky. Ardbeg is peated to 55 ppm. The Ardbeg 10 yo whisky is aged for at least 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels. In the tasting, the peat and earth notes really came through, and the sweet unburned tobacco remained. In the initial tasting, I could tell this is a complex one, arguably the most complex out of the drams or Tamadhu, Glenkinchie, Glen Scotia, Ledaig and the Dalmore I'd tasted.

Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. In exploring the aftertaste, I could feel the creaminess of coconut coming through and a whisper of aniseed, enveloped by a pipe tobacco cloud.. which I loved. John Johnston founded the Lagavulin distillery in 1816, though there had been as many as ten illicit distilleries in the area since 1742. Lagavulin was home to legal distilling under Johnston’s eye, however. Shortly after it opened, a distillery named Ardmore was opened close by, though this became part of Lagavulin a few decades later. Lagavulin is one of the great distilleries—you can’t convince me otherwise. While it doesn’t reach the highs of 1960s Bowmore and Laphroaig, there came a point when it started to surpass both of those distilleries. Of course, there’s great Bowmore and Laphroaig from the 1990s and 2000s arounds, but Lagavulin outperforms either in those eras. I know that’s just my opinion, but it almost feels like fact.Peat and smoke with hints of vanilla, sea salt and citrus sweetness. It is not overwhelming but inviting and intriguing. After the initial peat, some warming citrus and hints of vanilla. It continues to bring you hints of coffee and a bit of iodine. This Ardbeg 10 yo is a big whisky but not overwhelming at all. No it's wise I suppose this has to be considered the smoke here scotches but it's not like I get a ton of smoke off the nose... It's like a fine rich spicy wine...

A fruity lemony sourness, but not as sharp/refreshing as the Ledaig 10 which I felt was a bit frustrating as I wanted that hit, but it rounded off into the "sourness" you get from honey, of which, the sweetness transpired as it sat on my tongue a bit longer, which was soon greeted by a smokey body and savoury finish. I have a pretty massive collection of bottles and most of them are sealed for the future or for investment purposes. This one I opened ages ago when I 1st really got into whiskey but I really barely get a chance to drink... It has really been fine sitting in the cupboard it seems like the correct is totally intact and just smelling this from the bottle and put it in the glass just reminds me of why I got interested in whiskey in the 1st place. This is stunning. Sometimes you see all these expensive bottles and then you realize some people don't even care about this world and wouldn't even understand the expense and the high end expensiveness that whiskey can get into but this is just an exceptional product. It's beautiful and tastes beautiful and smells amazing Lagavulin is located on the south eastern coast of Islay and sits on Lagavulin Bay, a small bay dominated by the ruins of the 13th century Dunyvaig Castle. The name is taken from the anglicised name of the village in which the distillery is located - Lag a'Mhuilin, which translates as 'mill by the bay' from the local Gaelic dialect. The finish is extremely drying with plenty of ashy smoke, warming wood spices and a flinty/chalky quality coming to the fore. These mingle to create a heady combination, especially once the sweeter elements have faded away. Islay bölgesinin öne çıkan damıtımevlerinden Lagavulin’in, 2019’un sonlarına doğru çıkardığı ve Travel Retail’e özel olarak sunduğu ekspresyonu. Lagavulin 10, eski Bourbon, ilk-dolum ve yeni yakılmış (charred) olmak üzere farklı fıçılarda 10 yıl süreyle olgunlaştırıp 43 dereceyle şişelenmiş. The colour is golden yellow and the nose is immediately expressive and smoky. The smokiness has a damp and earthy feel to it with aromas of wet soil, green moss and seaweed. Supporting the earthiness are sweet aromas of honey, golden syrup, red apple and butterscotch. Hints of green chilli, cocoa and flint add depth.

The distillery was founded in 1816 by John Johnston and is currently owned by Diageo. It has an annual production of approximately three million litres with the whisky produced there split between the Lagavulin single malt portfolio and for use within Diageo's extensive blended range, being one of the prominent malts in White Horse. Taste: Feels a bit subdued, maybe because of the relatively low strength, but has a good body in general. A tinge of salt at first, combined with caramel—let’s call it salted caramel then. Some tar, green peat and a pinch of pepper. We were looking forward to sampling this new expression of Lagavulin as the Islay distillery has long been one of our favourites. It delivers everything that we want from a smoky whisky, and Lagavulin in particular - classy and expressive smoke, vibrant green fruits and delicious sweetness. Lagavulin decommissioned their own floor maltings in 1974 and they began to get their malt from Port Ellen. The distillery ran a two day working week until the 1980s, which has resulted in some problems meeting the high demand for their whisky over the years.
