About this deal

My one gripe (which doesn't affect my rating) is that my copy of this was published in America, and they have changed MUM to MOM. When Flossie's mom and stepdad move to Sydney for six months, Flossie convinces her mother to let her stay with her loving but inept father in London. Margot is described by having "such a flat tummy" according to Rhiannon and she likes to speak in a fake American accent. I know her audience is supposed to younger but I'm still loving these books and I can't wait to read the rest I have on mount tbr. Also from the other reviews I have read, I really want to know if she will go to Australia or live with her loving Dad ….

She can't go without her father and will miss him, so she decides that she won't go and will stay with her father instead. In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007.

Despite being a children's author, Jacqueline Wilson books explore incredibly important themes from friendships and family dynamics to mental health and sexuality. A brilliantly evocative portrait of modern life featuring an engaging heroine, Floos, from the mega bestselling Jacqueline Wilson. Floss has some important decisions to make, and when she has to choose between her mum and her dad, she’s torn. Rhiannon's posh and snobby mother assumes that Charlie is an unfit father and repeatedly tries to lecture him and pamper Floss believing she is living in an unclean dump.

After Charlie loses the café and the flat, Billy the Chip mentions he is going to Australia to visit his son for one month and needs Floss and Charlie to live in his house while Charlie works in Billy's chip van. Lovely novel written by the one and only Jacqueline Wilson I love all her books they are all soooo exciting. Floss also has a best friend, Rhiannon, who isn't much of a friend - making fun of her and her father and starting cruel rumours about her. Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. She often gives Charlie advice, and once made Rhiannon have a day out with Floss, meaning that Floss had to cancel her playdate with Susan. He gets a job offer in Australia in the beginning of the book, where him and the family get to stay there for 6 months while he works. She announces to Floss on her birthday that the whole family is moving to Australia for Steve's new job and is heartbroken when Floss remains with Charlie. As her mum and Dad are divorced Floss has the choice of going with her Mum and her Mum’s new boyfriend or going to stay with her Dad. When he encounters Rose, a fortune-teller and cotton-candy maker with a traveling carnival, he's met his true match. Many youngsters will relate to the story of Floss, who loves both her parents dearly and desperately wants them to get back together, although deep down she knows this will never happen.
