About this deal

Una and Nero’s chemistry is enigmatic from their first encounter where she throws a knife at him, narrowly missing to prove her point and he taunts her. The whole book was a miss for me. There were also vague setting descriptions and we don't really find out what any of the characters look like. This was supposed to be a dark romance, but the only thing dark about it is Hazel's abuse.

Ok, now that I am over my sadness that the series is over (well sort of over it anyway), this has been one of my favorite series due to the location. I have family that are Cajuns in Louisiana, so many times I felt like this was a glimpse into their lives, well sort of since I don't think they are going around solving murders! But I loved all of the references to cajun/creole food, music, and the history that surrounds that area. Also present is a ghostwriter named Dyer Gossmer, who's penning Philippe's autobiography, but is forbidden to put in any juicy stuff. This galls the author, who's hoping to revive his declining career. Of course, it wouldn't be a cozy without someone dying/murdered. In this case, it is a no-good, recipe stealing chef for a new restaurant in town. To top everything else, he and his crew don't seem to fight fair and are out to decimate the little competition there is in town which includes JJ's restaurant Junie's. Maggie is not ok with this and does her best to poke her nose into the situation and uncover the killer but not without putting herself in harm's way in the process. There is even a stalker and there is no way to know who it could possibly be, but Bo and the police force are on the case. The answer will surprise you, at least it did me! There’s a prologue that is unnecessary and contributes only a little to the story. It set a level of expectation for me that didn’t pay off what it promised. Chapter one describes a sting operation on a series of priest-murdering-thugs. This is well written and suspenseful, but once the sting is over, the book dissolves into exposition disguised as dialogue that explains who the main players and their relationships to each other. Too many characters were introduced at one time, and I had to write them down to keep them straight. This is the seventh book in the series, and I understand Finch’s need to describe the players. I wish he’d found a more exciting way to accomplish this. The relationship between the two has such a natural buildup. It started more as a fascination and slowly turned into something more.

All good things must come to an end as they say but I'm not ready to let Maggie, Bo, and the gang go quite yet! I just love the characters in this series and having six of them have one of the happiest days of their lives together really warmed by heart. But you can’t have a trip to Pelican with drama and murder and Ellen Byron encases these characters in another fantastic mystery. In this 7th book in the 'Cajun Country Mystery' series, amateur sleuth Maggie Crozat helps investigate the murder of a restaurateur. The book can be read as a standalone with respect to the mystery, but it's best to start at the beginning if you want to follow the characters' arcs. Thus, when Philippe is murdered the suspects include Abel, JJ (owner of Junie's), and Ninette. Maggie is determined to clear their names, and inveigles herself into Chanson's staff to investigate. Shirley in High Hopes, Wendy in Life Is Sweet, and Louise in Naked who have all the foibles, strengths, and self-doubts of

The Kiss of Death is about a vampire by the name of Raphael who is desperately trying to find a way to bring a sense of purpose and redemption to his own life. While he can't change who he is as a vampire, he believes he can still do the right thing and help battle against his own kind who are seeking to destroy the world and begin a war of evil with Richelieu as the head of the vampire army. Now it seems his goal is to locate the ancient religious artifacts, like the crown of thorns, the nails... that contain the blood of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Bible said that you're not supposed to eat or drink the blood of any creature, because the life of the creature resides in the blood. By taking the blood of the creature into yourself, you make its life, its spirit, a part of you. That's why there are so many prohibitions against drinking blood in the Old Testament. Blood is life, it's strength and the power and spirit, and the blood of Jesus, the son of God, was enough to atone for the sins of all mankind. It's the most powerful blood that ever has been. We’re both without morals, both equally as depraved as each other. We’re both born of bloodshed and battle and the reality is, we long for it” At first I was going to give this book more of a break but then I saw that the author has many books under their belt. This is their most recent series but it reads like its the author's first written piece. The Cajun Kiss of Death by Ellen Byron is the seventh book in the Cajun Country Mysteries, and while you can jump in and read it without having read the previous ones, you don’t want to. This cozy mystery series is one where you come to love the characters and look forward to each new book because you want to find out what your friends have been up to. I am crying leaving this review. This book broke my cold, dead heart. I fell in love with Death. There are multiple books that have had Death as a main character. I have read tons of them. This is the one that truly made me love him. The depth of his ability to feel. Just, gahhhh. When I have read other novels that have incorporated Biblical scriptures I read them as a foretelling of what would happen in that chapter or a description of the person they would be talking about next in that chapter. I am not versed in scriptures nor truly understand them so each statement just threw me off. In addition, the Crozat B&B dining room, Fais Dough Dough bakery, and Bon Bon Sweets add to the town's culinary treats. The gastronomic choices are expanding, however, with the addition of the high-end Chanson Restaurant..... Now Susan Lambert, whose destiny is has been to help in the wage against the evil coming works with her cousin Wendy, a friend David alongside three vampires, Raphael, his sire, Gabriel and their friend Paul to stop Richelieu from obtaining the artifacts and prevent them from obtaining the blood of Jesus Christ. They will use all the weapons necessary to stay alive and stay ahead of the game. There is a diary that Gabriel entrusts to Susan to read that will show them how it had all come to this point and hopefully within its contents, the secret to winning against Richelieu will be revealed. This one starts off with three weddings and one of those was Maggie and Bo and all Maggie wants is to just get use to being married, she hopes there will be no more murders.

THE AUTHOR: Paul Finch is a former cop and journalist, now full-time writer. Having originally written for the television series THE BILL plus children's animation and DOCTOR WHO audio dramas, he went on to write horror, but is now best known for his crime / thriller fiction. The next shot from Cupid's bow may be fatal in USA Today bestselling, Agatha Award-winning author Ellen Byron's hearty and delightful seventh Cajun Country mystery. But of course, the last nine hours had not just changed his views on that, it had changed everything. Pushing in to the second half of the book, The hunt starts reaching it's pinnacle when powerful sources start coming into play, fearing for more than just Her life now, she realizes that no matter what something will be lost along the way. Sacrifices must be given, both physically, mentally, and emotionally. If you want to sample the taste of southern Louisiana (literally, because the books contain recipes), try this series.
