Castle of Dusk and Shadows is the first book in Schade's Fae of Brytwilde series and in it she weaves a dark and dangerous world of royal fae politics that is upturned when Elle Blackford, a human woman determined to save her family, goes against the Queen's bargain and marries the Ashwood heir, Prince Fitz, much to his surprise and initial disappointment. If you love Pride and Prejudice, you will definitely want to check this book out, but I think it missed the mark for me as I wasn’t in the right mood for it.

I didn't much care for the heroine, as I found her straight out of YA Heroine Central Casting with her uncontrollable rage, impulsivity, and inability to not crack wise when in dangerous situations. Shade's Castle of Dusk and Shadows last year but had been waiting for it to come out in audiobook to give it a re-read with that extra level of entertainment!as a regular clean fiction reviewer, the book was amazing, but I do have to say this next part because I know that we are not all the same and I wouldn't like of you feel lied to while reading the book.

I just can't put into words how much I enjoyed reading this and I am so excited to see what other stories we get to enjoy from this world. Slown burn full of tension and angst had me turning the pages quickly to find out what would happen next, not only with the mystery, but for their relationship too. Schade was born on the first day of summer in a small town in Michigan, only to end up in another small town in Ohio.

This gothic vibes, fantasy romance, loose retelling of Pride and Prejudice is everything I was hoping for and more.
