And of course as always there’s the annoying glass glare/reflections that spoil the photos! (and Greggs getting their annual free advertising) Sadly not a lot which can be done about that.

Think Like an Elf (Clarice Bean) - HarperCollins Publishers UK

The Clarice Bean series is a series of children's books written and illustrated by English author Lauren Child from 1999. The stories follow middle schooler Clarice Bean and her challenges navigating the complex ethical, social and philosophical questions children deal with at school and at home. This is such a cute book! Clarice Bean is such a funny little kid. She has her own perspective on things and I love all her little quirks.

Clarice Bean lebt mir ihren Geschwistern, Ohren Eltern und ihrem Opa zusammen. Sie freut sich sehr auf Weihnachten und ihr liebste Weihnachtslied ist "Zwölf Tage Weihnachten". Think Like an Elf is a tale of the unwavering Christmas spirit of the beloved Clarice Bean as she navigates her way to a fun-filled, circus-inspired Christmas. The story is told over the eight windows of the Northumberland Steet store frontage where viewers are introduced to her home, her family, and her friends as she attempts to bring the circus to town this Christmas. This year there is a soft roped barrier instead of the steel metal ones which have been there in the past few years. There’s still somewhat of a queuing system, rather than it being ‘open’ and being able to just walk up to a window. Clem is a new girl at Clarice Bean's school. She is from Sweden and has a pet rabbit called Kahneen, which is Swedish for rabbit. Clarice describes Clem as Sadie Blanch, a fictional character from the Ruby Redfort series.

Clarice and Betty both love the Ruby Redfort series. Betty also loves dogs, and in the first book she received a dog from Clarice's grandad's best friend. She appears in the series wearing glasses. She and her parents traveled a lot, along with call-me-Mol and call-me-Cecil. In the last book, she moves to San Francisco because call-me-Mol goes to California for a vacation, but finds a job and decides to stay there. Visually, the book is original and appealing, with drawings, photos, and colorful collages illustrating the story and the text printed in red. Clarice’s lively, amusing first-person narrative offers a fresh take on the holiday season as experienced by a child growing up in a quirky but lovable family. A rewarding addition to the Clarice Bean series of transitional chapter books.
