About this deal

Like the feminist punk scene in the 90s, folk was another tribe from which Coxon (the notional “pop star”) expected a rebuff. This means that classics like ‘Parklife’ get as much space as minor diversions like Bloodwitch or the Jaded Hearts Band, and ‘Beetlebum’ - a number one - gets no coverage at all. Blur’s loud indie-rock heart, uncomfortable in the limelight, but superb in his crafting of memorable and often anthemic musical moments.

Embarrassed to admit how excited I got when he mentioned his love of Eames furniture I was fully ready to invite him for a tour of the collection. Dock skulle det vara lite bättre om han beskrev hur hans problem påverkade hans relationer/hans omgivning).Poorly written at times and suffers from lack of insight into Coxon’s relationships, and even those with the mothers of his children are very thinly sketched.

There were also many times throughout the book where I felt he skimmed over any of his own short-comings and the impact that he may have had on situations instead I felt he chose to quietly point the finger at whoever the other person was without directly saying so. For those of the era, it means taking a trip down memory lane through the songs of their youth, while those born before it can lap up books and articles from the famous faces of the time. This isn't the first time such allegations have been brought up, but this time the scope has changed.

Hans olika pedal set-ups, vart han spelade in hans skiva, vem som äger studion, alla olika inspirationer till skivan, alla gånger han har mött dem, alla instrument som användes till skivan, vem som spelade dem osv, osv. It was a really enjoyable show that took place in a pre 'broken Britain', pre Brexit London - a city that already seems to have vanished.

A total page-turner from a genius guitarist, brimming with a feast of wild, weird, accessible confessional moments. Dessa delar var också bra, jag tyckte han beskrev det i bra detalj, och jag kunde faktiskt förstår VARFÖR han kände/gjorde som han gjorde. A hard-working musician and broad creative who cemented his personal legacy years before but cannot help contributing more to an already stuffed case file of quality. His desire for victory over “the eternal challenge of the pop song” is well-maintained throughout this 300-page reflection. I can't help thinking that Graham might have enjoyed being in Radiohead more than he enjoyed being in Blur. And he does it so boringly, as if he too had been retold those interviews 20 minutes before he opened his laptop and tried to reproduce it all from memory, like a high school outline. Reading this book made me identify more with Graham Coxon as he discussed his anxieties and struggles with confidence / mental health. g.a hans tjej och Morrissey (det sistnämnda en ganska kul anledning) vilket slutade med att han fick anemi, en bra story i efterhand men säkert hemskt då.

At first the book trundled along as a standard linear, blow by blow memoir which was fine, but as it progressed Coxon started focusing on certain ideas and flitting in and out of the linear story. This is a great book for any fan of the band or the era, casting light on an alternative side of the phenomenon that was easy to take against, but still made me singalong and dance like a fool. This figure is present but not dominant throughout, and the book is at its strongest when Coxon talks about his own mental health struggles, and how he has worked hard to understand himself in response. From Nobel Laureates Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter to theatre greats Tom Stoppard and Alan Bennett to rising stars Polly Stenham and Florian Zeller, Faber Drama presents the very best theatre has to offer. from his early days in Seymour (soon to be a little band named Blur) to his recent works through The Waeve and beyond.
