About this deal

HIGH QUALITY: The stylish classic wooden enclosure minimised acoustic resonance and further reduces distortion. The classic design complements any home decor. The MDF not only provides aesthetic quality but also adds strength to the entire product. The final touch to the wood MDF surface has been given by wood effect vinyl. This also gives a shiny or polished look to the wooden surface. Pros and Cons Pros Wow I kind dis not expect this. I used to joke with some friends about Edifier, as if they were a crppy kind of Bose. But then the boss puts it at the bench, measures bad but likes the sound... My curious nature made me connect and experiment with Edifier R1280T and Edifier R1280Ts with different devices. After loads of failed and successful experiments, I concluded that the Edifier R1280T is highly suitable for computers whereas the R1280Ts comparatively go well with computers, smartphones, and tablets. It was the perfect high end audio product: Exotic, inefficient, expensive, unavailable, and toxic." Nelson Pass

To deliver the sound, each speaker cabinet comes with a 4-inch bass driver, a flared bass reflex port (basically a specially-constructed hole that increases the bass response), and a silk dome tweeter. Overall, the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts are excellent in the high-frequency ranges. The Edifier R1280T and Ts feature a 21W RMS. Meanwhile, the Edifier R1280DB and DBs are slightly advantageous with a 42W RMS.

Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. At this point, I thought that if there was a tool that combined both the Spinorama with the room acoustics data, it'd be extremely useful. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB produce a nice, punchy bass with its built-in subwoofer. The sound is rich and full while also being detailed and crisp. The sound feels larger than it actually is, probably due to the subwoofer.

But, what is most appealing about them is that they deliver a lot of lower mids and a good amount of high-end, producing audio that is as rich and full-bodied as it is crisp and detailed. Unlike its other competitors, these speakers have been made while keeping a retro theme. They have also been designed to make them portable and easily moveable. Due to their manageable size, you can keep them on shelves, between books, etc. In each dimension, both speakers are equal. Dimensions of R1280db are 5.75(W) x 9.5(H) x 7(D) inches, and those of R1280e are 5.75(W) x 9.5(H) x 7(D) inches. 3. Connection Types

The bass and treble knobs are more subtle than many EQ controls, which is a good thing. The drivers also offer a fairly flat response in the neutral default setting, so adding some bass will likely be a move many listeners will go for. Even with the bass knob fully turned up, the increase doesn't throw off the balance of most mixes we tested with too dramatically. You can easily boost the bass significantly and the treble only marginally and still maintain a sense of balance between the two. Measurements are compliant with latest speaker research into what can predict the speaker preference and is standardized in CEA/CTA-2034 ANSI specifications. Likewise listening tests are performed per research that shows mono listening is much more revealing of differences between speakers than stereo or multichannel. The Edifier R1280Ts and R1280DBs have an external subwoofer. This external subwoofer is detachable, which is both a good and bad thing. The subwoofer can be removed by simply unplugging it from the active speaker. This means that you can upgrade to another external subwoofer if you want to. This product can be seen as very reliable when it comes to its performance. The product provides you with a very high-quality sound that can be easy compared to a home theatre. Despite its retro look, the audio speakers in this device are quite modern with advanced technology used. There isn’t much information in Edifier’s product descriptions on just what these speakers are made from, but our best guess is that most of the construction is comprised of a molded plastic or polycarbonate enclosure, with two wood slats acting as paneling on the sides of each speaker. Each main woofer is built of the usual cloth/felt-type material, and the tweeters employ the standard silk. Both of these material choices are in line with our expectations for a speaker of this class. It contains a 13mm silk tweeter that provides a high-quality audio experience and a wide spectrum of frequencies, along with a 4inch (106mm) woofer. The Edifier R1280T has a frequency response of 75Hz-18kHz. Appreciate me or not, appearance matters to me. Therefore whether it’s speakers or not, I do not compromise on the looks. To be very honest, the first thing that captured my attention and convinced me to try out these two speakers was the ” sleek and stylish design”. However, they appear more or less the same. If both of the speakers are placed together, you have to observe pretty keenly to find out the difference. There are some solid chances that you would not find any noticeable difference. The appearances of both speakers are very similar; you won’t notice much of a difference. They both look and feel similar. R1280t and R1280DB speakers differ primarily in their connectivity and remote control designs. With R1280db you have Bluetooth, two RCA outputs, and two additional outputs, optical and coaxial. The r1280t, on the other hand, offers only two RCA inputs.
