Well . . . let’s look at journaling as a pathway to wisdom. Counselors and therapists (including pastoral counselors) often recommend journaling to their clients. They suggest writing by hand in a journal for a number of reasons. Sometimes there just isn’t enough space to jot down everything you find in the Bible. Some verses contain another Bible’s worth of depth alone. Giving readers as much space as possible, this Single Column Bible is all about making room for you. Its super-wide margins allow you to write to your heart's content. Bibles that have the designs printed in the margins are great for beginners or those who don’t feel they have the artistic talent to make their own. (Though I will always encourage you, that anyone has the talent to do their own- see THIS POST HERE for more on that.) The pre-illustrated Bibles also have a lot of blank margins as well if you are on the fence. Keep in mind that there are other cover designs available for these Bibles than the ones provided in my links. Classic Double Column Journaling Bible This Bible is published by Christian Art Publishers. It’s available at a budget-friendly price, and it offers beautiful features for writing and artwork. The translation is the King James Version. For many people, the poetic rhythms of the beautiful language in the King James translation are most inspiring. I often think about my friend and mentor from many years ago. He used to say, “Always pray with an open Bible on your lap.” For him, prayer was an ongoing conversation between himself and God. Moreover, the scriptures that he read in his Bible provided the pathway for that two-way conversation.NKJV- Zondervan Beautiful Word Bible *This Bible’s illustrations are already colored in, there is no NKJV that I know of that comes in a coloring version. You’re on a journey with God, just like my friend from many years ago. God speaks to you through scripture, and you enter into the two-way conversation with our Lord. What a joy and comfort it is to read God’s Word and go to God in prayer. This edition of the New International Version uses British spelling, punctuation and grammar to allow the Bible to be read more naturally.
