About this deal

As far as the story so far, this is pretty comfortable territory for Sui Ishida fans, but it's pretty clear that not only is the direction Sui Ishida's taking it radically different, but fundamentally incompatible with the themes and general plotline of Tokyo Ghoul. It's not easy to tell in which direction this will go but so far we have a pretty basic shounen-esque premise about two friends, one being very popular while the other one is the quiet type. right time, all the time he needs actually, to write this one, things could get better than last time, and maybe some people can change their minds about his work. Azuma's Choujin powers allows him to manipulate the iron chains around his wrist to create weapons or an armor. Fake-Out Opening: Chapter 1 starts off in a plane with Ely conversing about her dreams for the future with another passenger, when suddenly Chandra sets fire to everyone within the cabin. The scene then cuts away to the main protagonist, Tokio, as he's sitting in class looking up at the plane flying above.

I would not go so far as to say that Choujin X is a carbon copy of Tokyo Ghoul. Most of the abovementioned tropes are common in many mainstream stories, and perhaps Ishida finds these particular ones interesting. I can understand the appeal of stories that drag seemingly ordinary and innocent personalities through dark and morbid situations, especially if that character comes off as relatable. Our protagonist Tokio feels like someone with severe impostor syndrome. He looks down on himself so much that he determines his self-worth via the people that he associates with rather than from himself, which is what earned him the label of a vulture. The book does an excellent job of establishing that as both a symbol of power and a negative character trait that has the potential to be overcome. The concept of nation-states as a whole has collapsed around the world, with the only existing form of government being self-governed local prefectures. The story primarily takes place in a portion of Japan called Yamato, as in after the Japanese ethnic group. Culturally, Japan (or at least Yamato) has embraced more of a Monotheistic religion, apparently Catholicism or something similar, rather than Shinto and Buddhism in real life, thanks to important religious figures of the past that shaped Yamato’s history. Ririka wears a mask covering the lower part of her face to hide her Glasglow Grin. She has a very short temper when it is removed. Things to like: Cool, consistent world-building with very versatile power system, great fights with creative power usage and a fun and engaging plot. I am kinda disappointed where the story is heading. It feels like a generic shounen, (again, its pretty early to judge as only one chapter released as of now). But it kinda feels like I am reading Chainsaw Man again but...much more weird. I didn't like how suddenly the Main Character- Tokio, got his powers. Its like a mix between Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man and MHA. It could have been more interesting, if ghouls continued to exist. I am not really a big fan of this.

Greed: Due to his nature as a Nue Chimera who can collect other Choujin's powers, the pharmacist always wants powers. He needs to remind himself to not overindulge in it.

Handheld technology has advanced to the point that smartphones are cards in size and shape, much further than the real world had in 1998, and are combined with credit cards in their usage, at least in big cities. This world is inhabited by mankind and the so-called Choujin, posessing individual supernatural powers reminiscent of superheroes, except using it, as far as we know, mostly to cause evil. Our two mcs, being the naive high schoolers they are, like playing the hero and get into a fight with such a Choujin, eventually leading to one of them being transformed into a Choujin. Super Smoke: Chandra, Ely and Zora can create super-heated smoke, used either to burn people, fly or hide in it.

The story revolves around Tokio, an unmotivated kid who comfortably exists in the shadow of his talented best friend, Azuma. This all changes when circumstances result in Tokio becoming a choujin, a special being that manifests powers borne out of an individual's own insecurities and My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Choujin send out a signal other Choujin can sense when they're using their powers. I personally have never read a manga with two different protagonists, but I’m liking it so far. Choujin X, Vol. 2". Viz Media. Archived from the original on January 27, 2023 . Her first vision was seeing the memorial procession she was part of being killed by Quiem Mc Mann, the Choujin X at the time. Most of her actions in the present have for objective to prevent a calamity that would destroy Yamato as she saw in one of those dreams.
