I've also found that the attachments don't quite touch the bottom of the bowl, so if you're planning on using the mixer on small ingredient quantities (such as to whip ½ cup of heavy cream or to beat 2 egg whites) the attachments will miss the ingredients and nothing will happen. When mixing is finished, the small metal lever located next to the speed dial will raise the top half of the machine into the air allowing easy removal of the bowl.

As if all that wasn't enough, the mixer also comes with a cook book with all sorts of recipes suitable for everyone - from first time bakers to experienced cooks. I don’t think the Andrew James mixers are up to heavy duty use although they do sell a lot of them, and as Jennynorthcakes has suggested, she may just have been unlucky. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed by the quality and it would surprise me if this mixer withstand regular use.
