About this deal

Refer to a chart that provides the diameter of the anchor, the recommended fixture, the hole diameter, and the wrench size before installation. With nearly 60 years of field and R&D experience, Simpson Strong-Tie ®timber connectors are manufactured to the industry's highest standards. From framing angles to straps to heavy-duty joist hangers, we offer the most diverse product line so that you have the right product for the job. From fully tested and engineered connectors and clipsSimpson Strong-Tie ® provides comprehensive structural solutions for cold-formed steel construction. From steel-to-steel connections to full-scale lateral solutions and curtain wall connectors, we remain committed to developing new technology that helps to advance the cold-formed steel industry. Nominal embedment depth for post-installed anchors into concrete must be 4" for SET-3G™ or AT-XP®, or use THD50400H Titen HD® screw anchors. Anchorage into CMU is per designer.

The Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor is manufactured in carbon steel that is heat treated, and is available in zinc plating or a mechanically galvanized finish. Codes and Approvals All Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors come with a hex washer head that does not require the use of a separate washer. The hex head leaves a very clean look once installed with no stud or nut protruding above the fixture. The hex washer head is serrated, giving the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors very good vibration resistance once the head of the Titen It is easy to remove, so it’s ideal for temporary anchoring of formwork, bracing, or for applications where fixtures may be moved. Align the hole in the fixture with the hole in the base material and insert Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors through the fixture hole and into the hole in the base material.Mechanical galvanizing meets ASTM B695, Class 65, Type 1. Intended for some pressure-treated wood sill plate applications. Not for use in other corrosive or outdoor environments. See Supplemental Topics for Anchors or visit www.strongtie.com/info for more corrosion information. Drill a hole in the base material using a carbide drill bit (complying with ANSI B212.15) with the same diameter as the nominal diameter of the anchor to be installed. Drill the hole to the specified minimum hole depth overdrill (see table below) to allow the thread tapping dust to settle, and blow it clean using compressed air. (Overhead installations need not be blown clean.) Alternatively, drill the hole deep enough to accommodate embedment depth and the dust from drilling and tapping. Allowable loads have been increased for wind or earthquake loading with no further increase allowed. Reduce where other loads govern.

Models THDC25238CS6SS, THD37212CS and THD37212CS6SS do not meet minimum embedment depth requirements for strength design and require maximum installation torque of 25 ft. – lb. using a torque wrench, driver drill or cordless 1/4" impact driver with a maximum permitted torque rating of 100 ft. – lb. Spacing between the anchor and an unsupported edge is less than other types of anchors because the Titen HD anchor is not an expansion anchor and does not apply energy against the base material. As a result, the minimum spacing required for all diameters of the Titen anchor is 3-inches. Patented Torque Reduction Channel that traps dust where it can’t obstruct the thread action, reducing the likelihood of binding in the hole Meet the Titen Turbo™, the next‑generation concrete and masonry screw anchor from Simpson Strong‑Tie. Its revolutionary, patented, Torque Reduction Channel traps dust where it can’t obstruct thethread action, drastically reducing binding, stripping or snapping. The drill bit used for drilling a hole in the base material for the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor must meet ANSI standards. Hole size is equal to anchor size. The diameter of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor being installed is equal to the hole diameter that must be drilled into the base material. If the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor is 3/8” then a 3/8” hole must be drilled into the base material using a bit that meets ANSI standards. Hole Size Prescriptive" denotes spacing requirements per the IEBC and designs per the IRC and conventional provisions of the IBC.

If the anchor doesn’t install completely, remove it from the hole, make certain that all the dust is removed from the hole or drill the hole deeper so that the dust can settle below the anchor. Re-install the anchor by hand to avoid cross threading from occurring. If the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor will not install completely, remove the anchor from the hole. Ensure that all dust is removed from the hole or drill the hole deeper. Then reinstall the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor by hand to prevent any cross threading from occurring. Titen HD® Product Information The hole in the fixture needs to be larger in diameter than the diameter of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor being installed. It is very important to make sure that the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor being installed will fit through the fixture hole before the hole in the base material is drilled. See the chart below for the dimensions of the recommended hole diameter in the fixture: Titen HD® Diameter

Bonded by Versatility

Spacing requirements for the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor are less between anchors and an unsupported edge because the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor is not an expansion anchor and does not exert force against the base material. The minimum spacing requirements for all diameters of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors is 3” Titen HD® Minimum Edge Distance Corrosion Resistant— For dry, interior applications, carbon-steel corrosion is not a risk, but in any kind of exterior, coastal or chemical environment the anchor would be susceptible to corrosion. With the introduction of the THDSS, there is finally a state-of-the-art anchor solution that combines the corrosion resistance of Type 300 Series stainless steel with the undercutting ability of sacrificial heat-treated carbon-steel cutting threads. With a hammer drill and a carbide bit that meets ANSI standards and the same diameter as the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor being installed, drill a hole in the base material. Drill the hole a minimum of 1/2” deeper than the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors will penetrate. The Titen HD stainless-steel screw anchor for concrete and masonry is ideal for when the job calls for fast and efficient installation in multiple types of environments. The Titen HD stainless steel is a state-of-the-art anchor solution that combines the long-lasting corrosion resistance of Type 300 Series stainless steel with the undercutting ability of heat-treated carbon-steel cutting threads.

A space of 1” under the head is unthreaded on two of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors to allow for installation into the tilt-up braces used in tilt-up construction. The 3/4” x 6” and the 3/4” x 7 are designed specifically for this type of application. Titen HD® Installation Align the hole in the fixture with the hole in the base material and then insert the Titen HD anchor through the fixture hole and into the hole in the base material. Post installed inspection of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor is simple because the length of the anchor is stamped on the head of the anchor. During an inspection, the embedment depth of any particular anchor can be determined by subtracting the length of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor above the surface of the base material from the total length of the anchor. Drill Bit Requirements Considered a post-installed concrete fastener, the Titen HD anchor needs to be located a minimum distance from an unsupported edge. Since this is not an expansion anchor, the minimum distance from an unsupported edge is 1-3/4-inches for all diameters. Drill a hole in the base material using the appropriate diameter carbide drill bit as specified in the table. Drill the hole to the specified embedment depth plus 1/2" to allow the thread tapping dust to settle and blow it clean using compressed air. Overhead installations need not be blown clean. Alternatively, drill the hole deep enough to accommodate embedment depth and dust from drilling and tapping.Drill a hole in the base material using a carbide drill bit the same diameter as the nominal diameter of the anchor to be installed. (Overhead installations need not be blown clean.) Alternatively, drill the hole deep enough to accommodate embedment depth and the dust from drilling and tapping.
