About this deal

Angelbird is extremely nitpicky about which cards are designed for which cameras which could mean that it does have some kind of special tuning to work with cameras better than with computer software. Other system names and product names are generally registered trademarks or trademarks of each manufacturer. For example, Lexar just send me the updated cards and RitzGear is now in communication, although I’m currently up to date on their cards, which I did not benchmark since they don’t have fast cards yet. The ProGrade Digital SD UHS-II card reader is expertly engineered to outperform the competition as the strongest link in your photography, video, audio or digital imaging workflow.

For the most part, these cards were all pretty consistent in their performance during our benchmarking with the exception of Acer and Atlas Pro, both of which were a lot more frenetic in how much they jumped from high speeds to low speeds during testing, which gives us pause recommending either for video workflows. This is a high-quality reader and has a solid build with a plastic casing, and the reader does not heat up the cards to lava temperatures. The Sandisk Professional PRO-READER Multi Card is a fast SD card reader that also supports microSD and Compact Flash (more on which below). We hope this guide is now more useful to readers looking at picking up a card that is best for their use cases. I have never used a card reader, so would also want to know if there's anything special to look for in card readers. For many years, Compact Flash (or CF) was the standard high-speed, high-capacity format used in professional and enthusiast DSLRs. cards were much closer, but standouts include the ProGrade Cobalt card, Delkin’s Black series, and Lexar’s Diamond series. Gen2 speeds, 3 the SanDisk Extreme PRO® CFexpress® Card Reader optimizes the performance of the CFexpress® Card Type B 2 for smooth, efficient workflow from location to post production. This reader is said to be compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4 which should have a 20Gbps throughput, but I’m still only seeing 10Gbps when I plug it into a Macbook with Thunderbolt 3.

The offer is not applicable for any prior purchases and may not be available in all regions of the world. Nearly 7x smaller than other Thunderbolt CFexpress readers, the Atlas FXR easily fits into the smallest camera bag so you can pack more accessories to help capture incredible content.

With its plug-and-play functionality, you can enjoy a hassle-free experience without the need for extra drivers or power adapters. Solid Connect recessed connection logic provides a secure connection point and minimizes wear and tear. Every card, regardless of the speeds promised, was able to ingest 8K RAW video footage until the camera overheated, which means it’s highly unlikely that anyone would run into any issues with the cards when shooting in the field — the camera will fail before the card does. One, it allows older cards to perform better when connected to a host computer than before simply because of more bandwidth.
