About this deal

my sweet mute boy” -> WHAT? WHAT? did i read that correctly? is that supposed to be romantic? it’s just so so cringey. i got second hand embarrassment every time she called him like “my mute boy” or “my kind silent man”. literally cannot take this seriously.

Archer and Bree, without a doubt, have become one of my favorite couples. They make me believe in love during the times I don't, and they bring comfort to the times I feel like love is dying. Fictional or not, love stories like these bring a sense of comfort to me. There is something beautiful about finding your soulmate in the places you least expected to.The townspeople of Pelion have their preconceived notions about Archer based on gossip and misunderstandings. I loved how this book was not your typical romance but it was more about each character healing because of the other and how experiences can shape you. The trauma that they both had just made this book so real and heartbreaking. No but for real I was ugly crying last night for a full 10 minutes.

Bree Prescott was such a wonderful heroine. She was just genuinely a good person -- kind hearted, caring, and sweet. I was never annoyed with her and I loved her for what she did for Archer and for the way she say right into the real him.Bree is a very likable heroine. She’s in her 20s trying to get a new start in her life after witnessing her father’s murder. Without forgetting that traumatic night, she struggles with her phobia of thunderstorms. She felt really genuine, as if she were a character I was walking around with. I loved her inner thoughts because of how realistic they felt. There were times when I would feel embarrassed for her, but it was all in a good way. She didn’t feel fake, and I loved how she was someone who didn’t see Archer as everyone else did.

For Archer, it’s the loss of his family and his voice, leading him to live an isolated life. For Bree, it’s the violent loss of her father and her own assault. The novel showcases the journey of healing and the importance of confronting past traumas. I supposed we all coped in our different ways—pain and healing as individual as the people who experienced them. Oh God, Archer, I thought, my heart squeezing tightly in my chest. How do you teach a man who has lost everything, not to fear it happening again? But aside from the sweetness and tenderness, what really tugged at my heart is Archer’s muteness and disability. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the ways his hands communicate with me.On me. But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all.Archer’s uncle was his real dad, which means Archer should be the town leader, not Travis. Victoria, Travis’s mom, tried to keep this a secret to maintain power.
