About this deal

This gin is based around the Marula (or elephant) fruit, which is fermented, distilled, and blended with a range of botanicals. The marula fruit grows in South Africa and is a favourite of the elephant herds who drawn by the scent of the ripe fruit, gather beneath the trees. The fruit is hand picked and the locals then wash destone, pulp and cool the fruit before it is distilled into marula fruit spirit.

Perfect for any occasion, Amarula Gin is sure to inspire strong emotions and create memorable moments. I normally like to try my first taste of a gin, with an unflavoured light tonic water which enables me to taste the full flavour of the gin and this Amarula tasting was no exception. This expression was created with a base of marula fruit spirit alongisde plenty of botanicals, creating a tipple that we simply cannot get enough of. It took many years to perfect the combination of botanicals and marula fruit spirit that resulted in this premium, complex and utterly unique gin, which celebrates the exotic flavours of the indigenous marula fruit. Light and fresh gin from folks at Amarula, made with a base of marula fruit spirit alongside a blend of botanicals including wild Marula fruit, juniper berries, orange peel, orange blossoms and grains of paradise. The level of spice from the grains of paradise is enough to enliven without turning the gin overly spicy.

And there is just one time of year when the Marula trees bear their exotic fruit – at the height of our beautiful summer. The pure flavour, with a hint of floral and citrus tones came through first, followed by a bit of a kick which was unexpected but quite pleasant. We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre! Invigorating and refreshing, Amarula African Gin bursts with gentle juniper notes subtle spicy grains of paradise from Ghana and the unmistakable taste of the Marula fruit. The long connection between the Royal Navy and rum can be traced back to 1655 and Vice-Admiral William Penn's expedition to the West Indies. The crucial point of difference for Amarula's gin is that its base spirit is actually made with fermented and distilled Marula fruit rather than a neutral grain or potato spirit base. Gin has become incredibly popular in recent years and being a big gin fan, I enjoy trying all the different varieties with their unique tastes. This sweet and satisfying gin is bursting with delicious aromatic flavours that come from the number of botanicals that are used.Made with real african Marula fruit that is grown wild, hand harvested, washed and sorted to ensure the best quality fruit spirit.
