About this deal

Make sure you change the water often, or you will attract mosquitoes looking for a place to lay their eggs.

Ladybird larvae should be released onto infested plants either early in the morning or in late evening. This is my first time using them and they have nearly completely destroyed the aphids population that was damaging my apple tree within just a week. It is very important to release the ladybirds as soon as possible after they arrive with you to minimise risk of them eating each other in the bottle. Please note: these products need to be used within 48 hours and items are non-refundable due to their live perishable nature. MightyBug – Ladybird larvae are an excellent curative treatment to give quick control of established aphid populations. If you’re looking to tackle aphids on outdoor plants, ladybird larvae tend to make a more reliable choice than adult ladybirds as they’ll stay roughly where you release them - not fly off to munch your neighbour’s aphids!

The lifecycle on average is between 21-28 days, during this time you can make daily observations using the included poster. Distribute the contents onto the leaves or in URB (universal release boxes) evenly throughout the crop, by gently shaking and rotating the bottle. The tree has a naturally columnar habit and will reach a maximum height and spread of 3m (10ft) x 1m (3ft) in 10 years. Like all beetles, butterflies, moths and flies, ladybirds undergo complete metamorphosis from egg to larva to pupa to adult.Simply pour the Ladybird larvae into the cotton bag, hang it on the desired plant, and leave the bag open for the larvae to make their way out naturally. Similar in size and appearance to whitefly, whitefly can be distinguished by their white bodies and wings, also the adult whitefly taking to flight when disturbed whereas winged aphid adults tend to stay on the plant until directly disturbed. Harlequin ladybird pupa like other ladybird pupa is immobile and can often be found attached to plants. Males produce sperm packets each with 14,000 sperm, and insert three of them into the female, even though she can only hold 18,000 sperm. Very easy to pop into the fabric bag, place it in the infested plant and within a few days I could see the larvae increasing in size and chomping away.

While our garden is lacking in the little sap-suckers this year, nearby cherry trees, thankfully, are not. Each ladybird will eat about 5000 aphids and will soon produce ladybird larvae which in turn also eat aphids. Spraying chemicals into large plants and trees is just not practical and harms beneficial insects such as ladybirds, so release Ladybird Larvae instead. While we didn’t spot any ladybirds in the garden, we did manage to spot another mating pair of insects.
