My destination happened to be a local waterfall, and as I knelt down in the stream to shoot it from a low angle I slipped and fell sideways. One side of the bag was submerged in the water, but thankfully there was no ingress of water in the bag, not even any moisture. When you want to wear it as a standard tote, pull the strap up by this handle and use it along with the front strap to throw the bag over your shoulder. They’re not comfortable for long, as again, they don’t have any padding—but we’ve found them to be convenient for when we’re just running into the store or—similar to the shoulder straps—when we want to give our hands a break. The two main areas we focus on when we develop shoulder bags for collections like Kånken and Vardag are durability and timelessness. For example, our shoulder bags are made from hardwearing materials like 100% recycled nylon and G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco, which will easily withstand everyday use. Designers also create bags that have clean lines and classic forms to ensure a contemporary look no matter how many decades you wear them.

The camera bag may seem like a static product, but Peak Design continues to innovate. The company has found a gap in the market with its hybrid tote bag / camera bag.

It seems counterintuitive, but we know we have achieved our goals when we see Fjällräven products being used after years. Or even decades. Like a Kånken from 1979 still going strong. Because that is exactly how Fjällräven products are designed to be used. Including our shoulder bags. The zippers are really rigid and feel like they’re going to hold up for the long haul. I also like the anti-theft design touch, which is always a consideration when you’re in a busy city centre. Even those pulls and toggles are firm and not going anywhere. To finish off the materials, there’s also a #6 Wasa snap fastener on this bag that connects the two top handles for easy carrying. We haven’t had any issues with it disengaging during testing, so nothing to report there.
