About this deal

This book is not a specialized look at one particular period or a handful of canonized artists, but devotes a good amount of space to artists we are not as familiar with, placed in context with other artists and works we are more familiar with. He has written a number of books on subjects ranging from medieval painting and sculpture, to contemporary art. Aunque es un libro ambicioso, su orden diacrónico y su más de 2500 ilustraciones, entrega un panorama muy amplio de las artes plásticas, sus principales creadores y sus obras más representativas. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

The book opens with a short section detailing how artists use color, composition, light and shade, perspective, and different media to bring their ideas to fruition. What the artists did to create each work — and how — is revealed with the help of graphics, overlays, and detailed close-ups. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. If you ever just feel the need to look at art, this is the book to pick up; the photography is crisp and the art chosen is encyclopedic in its range. But one thing that struck me is this "primitivist" (garbage label, especially to describe a trained artist who "imitates" "primitive" art) who had a 14 year old Tahitian "mistress" who he painted in a sexual way and they didn't pass comment on it at all, just acted as if that's totally ok.This is a truly magnificent art book about exploring different artists informations, timelines, variety of paintings from different artists through exploring diferent techniques . It is a go-to place for museum lovers whether they want to read up on an exhibition they are about to visit; read more about an exhibition being held far afield or revisit an old favourite show. The breadth of material is astounding, covering artists I'd never heard of in all my art history classes. Be inspired by the detail of each subject matter and methods each artist used to create their masterpieces, and explore centuries, cultures, and countries on the ultimate artistic journey across time.

I think this is the biggest flaw, although one that'd be hard to rectify easily given what the book is trying to do. When you claim to be the "definitive visual guide" of art itself there is always going to be room to point out where such-and-such a thing wasn't included. From Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper to Francis Bacon’s Screaming Pope , 22 key works are analyzed at full-page size in terms of composition, story, and techniques.Comprehensive and chock full of illustrations and detailed explanations of the background and technical aspects of each piece of art (mostly paintings). Truly comprehensive in scope, Art shows you masterpieces from over 700 artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, and Van Gogh.
