Aida is childish but the writing makes it seem like she's a sassy "spitfire" girl who is just defending herself when really there is no defending to be had. Nero starts the ignition, and in the flare of the headlights, we see Dante’s hulking silhouette, standing right in front of us, arms crossed, looking like Michael Meyers about to murder us. So, while my father and Dante are droning on about the tower, I mutter to Sebastian, “We should go over there.

Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths. But when the book started, I LOOOOVED Aida's character and how she's not the typical mafia romance heroine. There's a lot about Taken by a Sinner that sounds similar to Brutal Prince, between the main character who is a brooding alpha male, the age gap, and the enemies-to-lovers type relationship.

Unarguably one of the best romance books I have read in a while, Brutal Prince by Sophie Lark is a handful when it comes to teasers. It's about the relationship between an alpha Irish mafia boss and a Texan diner waitress who isn't afraid to deliver some sass. While her sister has little to no interest in Nico, Elena and Nico have an attraction that makes it almost impossible for them to keep their hands off each other, even if they're trying to fight it. This is the exact opposite of a cool friendly resort town unless you want to be totally spooked out.
