About this deal

Other confirmed dates for 2020 were at the Cascais Rock Fest on 25 Jan (with Cutting Crew and The Stranglers), and at the Rock of Ages Festival, Germany 31 July – 2 August. Instead of entering uncharted territory, Dare stay in their comfort zone and evolve their sound instead of approaching more radical changes.

And if the luminous final solo of 'Thy Kingdom Come' with its masterful rise in intensity and its assumed Celtic pride finishes dazzling us, it also installs in us the melancholy of a journey that ends when we would have liked to see it go on and on.You know what you are going to get with a Dare album - they are not about to take a sudden left-field swing to death metal or trance! Getting my facts right here hopefully, Dare gained swift critical success with their arrival on the music scene of the late eighties, touring as support to some major acts but ultimately deciding to not feed the more predictable flames of fan furore, notably by developing a Celtic feel to their music, while retaining a hard rock/AOR approach too if this album’s any judge. Production is mostly superb, the only thing I would add is a more impactful drum sound to match Vinny’s piercing guitars. Since early 2020 Josh has been entertaining us with exclusive monthly live sessions, streamed via Facebook. Although the band could never enjoy a big break-through, the quintet delivered well-crafted longplayers all along the way and offered good quality songs.

You know, I spent my early career with Thin Lizzy, so that rubbed off me a great deal, working with Phil Lynott and Scott Gorham. For example if you enter Black Star Riders the results will include all instances of "Black" "Star" and "Riders". With Moore departed the band was reduced to a three-piece, with Wharton on vocals and keyboards, Dews on guitars and backing vocals, and Whitehead on drums. What I remember most from Out of the Silence was the warm, inviting voice of Darren Wharton, a former keyboard player for Thin Lizzy, and their melodic approach, which was notably against the trends of the time, when bands were getting heavier and moving into extreme metal.Straddling their native Ireland and their adopted Wales, the quintet is proud of its origins and regularly lifts us off the ground to fly over the green rolling spaces of the British Isles. Radio, Sundays at 22:00 GMT, repeated on Mondays and Fridays), when he invites listeners to ‘Assume The Position’.

The best thing about the album is that it is entirely comfortable not to be Avant Garde and instead concentrate on the sound that the band has always had. Remember me / I remember you… You are loved,” not-so-Rotten sings over a lush soundscape of gently twanging guitars vaguely reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross. Here we are once again in the middle of another elitist plan being digested slowly as we wait to be turned into faeces once more.Led by former Thin Lizzy Darren Wharton, Dare has a more classic hard rock guitar sound not unlike Thin Lizzy and the more Celtic underpinnings of Gary Moore, which is very apparent on this album. From the moment a child is born, we cherish, protect, and love them unconditionally with all our hearts. From the start, there’s the feeling these songs were written during the covid lockdown, a time of solitude and too much time to think, but coming out of it having deliberated on the things that matter: friends, relatives and those who’ve influenced you, some of who may not be with you now but still have a hold on the things that make you who and what you are; hopefully for the better.
