About this deal

Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. This beautifully illustrated book is a modern, fresh take on gardening that shows how anyone can grow their own vegetables, create a mini wildflower meadow or learn how to make the most of their houseplants. I now feel connected to the earth in a way that I didn’t before… If you wanted to start your own growing space it doesn’t matter whether you have a pot on a windowsill or a hectare of land, this book is applicable and inspiring. I liked how Ahmed was so similar to Josh, to imprint on the reader how we are all the same and we all suffer loss in life, and in fact some are far worse than others and being from another country/ different classes/ being a different skin tone/ speaking with a different accent/ a religion or not makes no difference to the fact that everybody hurts or loves or gets angry during childhood if only you took the time to talk to each other. After all, aren’t they the school thugs, with Alan the puppet brother of the local right- wing thug, Carl?

While some are patently ridiculous – a lawn is de-thistled and resown with the help of a barrel of grass seed strapped onto a small donkey – others are before their time, such as a special pump that can divert your bathwater into your garden hose, a contraption that is not wildly dissimilar to gadgets on the market today. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.

This is the authors first novel and it was carnegie shortlisted last year, a well deserved and impressive accolade for a debut. Please note, we are currently only able to deliver to UK addresses, including Northern Ireland and British Isles of Jersey and Guernsey. I loved it -- RAYNOR WINN, author of THE SALT PATH Alice Vincent delves into what it is that makes women want to garden, uncovering what drives the urge to sow seeds and nurture plants, and by doing so goes on her own journey of discovery * * Sunday Times * * A conversational odyssey from a Canary Wharf balcony to Charleston, the Bloomsbury set's hangout, and a windswept smallholding in Denmark.First published in 1938, the book gives an insight into gardening trends on the eve of the Second World War while also addressing common concerns faced by gardeners. However, I appreciated the character building in this book and admired Josh’s character development and ‘growth’. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. Her book is so full of good sense and patient observation that you feel you are right alongside her as she sows, weeds, plans and grows.
