About this deal

Editor's Note (September 2023): This product review was originally written and published in 2019. To make sure we are still recommending the best products for your needs, we recently reviewed this story to make sure it is still accurate and that we stand by what we wrote. In addition to this original hands-on review, we also had the opportunity to test this product in The Lab. Thanks to its at-home and lab performance, it is still a top choice in The Best Tower Fans despite newer models and options being available on the market. If you do stand up though, Seville Classics' fans have a control panel with a small plastic cover. This is a great aesthetic choice, as you can hide all the buttons and fan speed settings neatly. To start, we measured the traditional unit of success: cooling power. Using an anemometer, we measured the wind speed of each fan’s highest level in miles per hour when sitting around two feet from the unit, with it pointing straight at us.

The Honeywell – HY-280 was the next best oscillating tower fan option after the Seville, with great coverage, solid airflow, and second-best performance in noise levels behind the Dyson AM07. Its low energy usage and overall cost make it a great budget choice overall. Unfortunately, Honeywell has discontinued this terrific fan. Brookstone – Mighty Max (discontinued) While using this fan at home, we are happy to report that it is powerful, easy to switch between modes, and very quiet, so quiet, in fact, that we sometimes forgot to turn it off! We've found it especially useful to sweep cool air from the air conditioner from one space, into another. We also noted that it produces more air than our ceiling fan. While we did find the unit to be a bit bulky compared to other tower fans we tested and doesn't really match everyone's decor style, we still think it's a great option especially for small bedrooms or offices, as it effectively cools and circulates the air and takes up a relatively small footprint. However, these largely stem from delivery issues, and some assembly difficulties. Not something you are likely to experience with a Seville Classics ultraslimline fan. Wider Coverage: The tower fan’s optional 90° oscillation provides a wider coverage, allowing this oscillating fan to circulate the fresh air to every corner in your roomFor one, the Dyson’s bladeless design makes it safe for all ages and easy to clean, although there’s little about the other encased fans that make us feel like our health is at risk.

The fan is easy to assemble out of the box; you only need to attach the base using four screws. The fan can be difficult to clean, but not more so than the average tower fan. It is a little more expensive than most tower fans, but the long warranty helps make it a better value for the money. The Dreo stands 36″ tall with a grill of 18″ x 3″, but the fan is well-designed, and the air is powerfully pushed through the narrow grill with little decrease in mph at the top and bottom of the grill. It has four speeds — very low, low, medium, and high — ranging in mph from 2.2 mph (which we thought was a little too low for a hot day) to, as already noted, a gusty 13.2. The base pieces do require some assembly, but being only two pieces make it quite easy to fit the whole Seville Classics ultraslimline together in the grand scheme of things. The Dyson Pure Cool Tower Fan (TP04) is one of the best tower fans you can buy, period. It features Dyson’s innovative bladeless fan technology, making it safer for homes with children and pets. Plus, it combines turbocharger and jet engine science with the firm’s Air Multiplier tech to quietly but powerfully deliver 77 gallons per second of smooth, cooling airflow when you most need it. There is also the eco mode setting that saves even more power by shutting off after 30 minutes of inactivity, helping you save money and power if your forget to turn it off. These compact fans are ideal for reducing noise levels as they create less noise while running, when compared to lower end models and brands. Thankfully the timer feature of the Seville Classics ultraslimline tilting fan can keep the model safe to use through the day, although breaks will be needed.

Finally, we looked at oscillation. If you’re trying to cool an entire room, the fan’s power for distributing airflow and its ability to rotate are important features. The low impact noise of the eco mode is lost on other settings, and upper speeds of 7 mph wind power can be very intense on the ears. With a Seville Classics ultraslimline, the wide base does everything you would want it to do. While cheaper brands than Seville Classics have bases that rattle with oscillation limitations, the Seville Classics ultraslimline is not one of them. Again, the Seville impressed, showing the strongest total coverage by a slight margin. The Honeywell equaled the movement as well, followed closely by Brookstone and Dyson.Heat Under Control: The floor fan auto mode senses your cooling needs during the hottest hours of the day, adapting windspeeds so you can stay cool without the stress of reaching your remote control During testing, the Honeywell Quiet Set Whole Room Tower Fan stood out for its user-friendly control panel at the top; we found the easy-to-understand symbols made the display easy to use. We also appreciated the quiet operation. During testing, all five speeds—power cool, refresh, white noise, calm, and sleep—were quiet enough to function as white noise, if noticeable at all. On the lowest setting, sleep mode, we only heard a very low hum. The highest-setting sound was more noticeable but we did not find it to be disturbingly loud.
