About this deal

The ProCook 2-piece twisted ice lolly maker comes packaged in an understated, plastic-free, recyclable box. It creates 9 lollies at a time – substantially more than the others on this list – and, because the mould is made from silicone, the lollies are super easy to remove. Fun and functional, these ice lolly moulds fit in even a tiny ice box easily and bring a pop of fun along the way. Despite the intricate barley-sugar twist on these chunky lollies, they came out cleanly with every detail intact. The silicone moulds are on the smaller side, so they make a perfect portion size for young children, and the ice lollies popped out of the moulds with zero faff.

NUK Annabel Karmel by Ice Lolly Set - Netmums Reviews

By far the cutest lolly moulds we tried, this rack of six little bunnies made the most delightful little ice pops. Zoku suggests using the lid included to prevent spills, but we found that juice would seep under the lid instead and spoiled the appearance of our first batch of lollies. We liked the extra width on the handle of these lollies – it made gripping them easier for little hands. We looked at how easy the moulds were to fill, how sturdy they were in the freezer – no sticks being knocked sideways – and how well they fit into an icebox and a medium freezer drawer, as well as a large freezer drawer. Then, after running the moulds under a tap for 40 seconds, followed by a twist, we easily freed the monsters with the features of each character intact.I didn't even have a stick, so I just used my daughter's old plastic weaning spoons as sticks, and they worked great! The base has a large footprint, and the moulds are tall, so you’ll need plenty of space to freeze your lollies.

We bought these just before my daughter was ready to wean as it was a madly hot summer and I had been advised to freeze breast milk in the lolly to help combat the heat. We spent three weeks testing ice lolly moulds every day – at one point we considered setting up a free ice lolly stand on our front doorstep. Compact design: As well as fitting easily into an average-sized freezer drawer, we looked for moulds that could be put away in a cupboard easily, too. Beware though – some reviewers have found the connectors between each one can break easily when frozen, so be gentle when unclipping them. We absolutely loved these fun fruity pops, and we found they encouraged us to be more creative in our ice lolly adventures.Ease of eating: Although spills will never be entirely avoided, we looked for moulds with spill guards and sturdy handles that were suitable for small hands. We also loved that they neatly stack together thanks to the clever lids – which are clear, so you can see which flavour is which. Simply lay each 95ml-capacity silicone mould (with integrated stick) flat, then fill with a lolly recipe of your choice and freeze.

This is a set of four, but you can just stick one in the freezer without the need for a huge rack taking up space. Each lolly stays firmly attached to the stick inside thanks to a clever circular design that offers more surface area.

The mould is sturdy and easy to fill, and the handles come in bright, shiny colours that appeal to children. Depending on the ingredients, your lollies will take about 6-8 hours to freeze so leaving them to the last minute is not an option. The drip guard is generous, preventing spills, but could do with a spout to help polish off every drop. Emily Kerrigan, author of Modern Family Food, has shared her five favourite ice lolly flavours with us.

The release on these lollies was trickier, but with some coaxing and a run under the hot water tap they popped out nicely. Depending on the age of your little ones, you can fill them with a mixture of fruit, yoghurt, breast or coconut milk and even vegetable puree or juice. The recipes included all sounded delicious, and we can attest that the watermelon ice lolly with basil for the rind is spot on. If sunny days often take you by surprise and you never seem to remember to pre-make ice lollies, this fancy gadget could be for you. The simple BPA-free, silicone mould feels sturdy and pliable, which makes releasing the finished lollies easy.
